Summary Description of Position

Aggregate plant crushing experience is required. The selected supervisor should have the capability to one day assume the role of Operations Plant Manager.

The supervisor must have experience developing budgets, controlling costs, managing a maintenance program, MSHA regulations, and time management. The general skill level of the supervisor should exceed that of an operator, in plant related matters, such that he/she is able to give instructions to others, in those same plant related matters.

The Portable Aggregate supervisor is primarily responsible for the cost effective production of quality aggregate from the operations under his or her control. These specific activities include, but are not limited to scheduling, staffing, production management, maintenance, service, and repair of any and all production related equipment, responding to customer complaints, troubleshooting, etc. Additionally, the supervisor is expected to plan, coordinate, and direct all activities related to the daily production/operation of the facilities and lead the efforts to continuously improve the operation of the business.

Key Responsibility Areas
1.Safety, Health, and Environment: Be proactive in the safety of all personnel and activities in the plant area. Inspect and maintain dust control systems to ensure a healthy work environment. Be knowledgeable of waste products, their impact on the environment and their proper disposal.
2.Production Levels: Ensure that production levels are at an optimum with minimum plant downtime. Coordinate by-size production with sales market demands and long range planning. Work closely with the quality control technicians to ensure that all production meet the customers' needs.
3.Maintenance Program: Proper utilization and maintenance of all stationary and mobile equipment so that equipment cost and downtime are minimized and the equipment is available when needed.
4.Supervision: Provide an example of good leadership, keep open, an effective lines of communication with division staff and plant level personnel.
5.Inventory Control: Maintain proper levels of inventories to support local sales activities and long range market demands.
6.Quality Control: Work closely with the QC Technician onsite to ensure we maintain consistency in the quality of our products and services to the customer

Education, Experience, Skills Required

Education:

High School Diploma

Experience:
5 years with fixed plant and plant operation and knowledge of maintenance procedures

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Must have a thorough knowledge in methods and techniques of quarrying and with related equipment and suppliers

Knowledge of the capability and proper utilization of aggregate plants

Must have a thorough knowledge of MSHA/OSHA regulations and regulatory agencies

Knowledge of aggregate designs, sizes, and grades

Understand how to operate and maintain fixed and mobile equipment.

Responsibilities relating to community relations

Must have computer skills, good leadership and excellent interpersonal skills

Works with Plant Manager to supervise personnel. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. * Coordinate cylinder requirements with region branches. * Interviews applicants for hiring and recommends action. * Trains and develops assigned personnel. Responsible for conducting timely and quality performance appraisals of assigned personnel with Plant Manager or independently. * Recommends disciplinary action up to and including termination of plant personnel. * Directs and coordinates plant activities to obtain optimum efficiency and economy of operations and maximize production. * Assists in analyses plant budget to identify areas in which efficiencies can be obtained and production costs reduced and then allocates operating budget. * Develops plant goals with agreement of Plant Manager and works with and through subordinate associates to achieve results. * Follows and maintains all FDA, OSHA, EPA, DOT requirements and regulations * Supervises cylinder re testing and certification, if process is active at location * Maintain all required computer and hand generated paperwork as assigned * Reports any equipment or facility defects to Plant Manager * Responsible for safety and safety practices of assigned personnel. QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
