Primary Purpose: Primarily responsible for supervising shift employees who perform one or a combination of manual or machine food processing operations, warehousing, sanitation

  • BS/BA in related field preferred. Experience may substitute for education.

  • Depending on education level may have 1 - 5 years experience in production/manufacturing environment with industry experience.

  • Must have inventory cycle counting experience.

  • Proven understanding of production/operations/manufacturing requirements.

  • Ability to manage and develop employees.

  • Working experience with equipment/maintenance.

  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.

  • Proven time management skills.

  • Working knowledge of MS applications including proficiency with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and ability to grasp additional business related applications Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Plan, lead, direct operation activities on the shift and give appropriate feedback to employees.

  • Build teams and assign accountability.

  • Develop a work environment within manufacturing that promotes trust, teamwork quality and safety.

  • Ensure production of a quality product in compliance with Safeway, Federal and State guidelines. Ensure regulatory compliance as appropriate (OSHA, EPA, FDA, USDA, HACCP, Etc.) - Responsible for all processes on the shift.

  • Oversee activities including ordering, processing, packaging, sanitation, and shipping of all plant products and services.

  • May schedule production, schedule crews, order materials, and/or order supplies.

  • Plan, delegate, and monitor progress on work assignments and special projects.

  • Perform physical inventory and track movements.

  • Including inventory control under Working Capital guideline.

  • Manage to assigned financial budget targets -- working capital, labor mgt, waste mgt and efficiency.

  • Utilize new technology and Lean manufacturing principles and processes available to maximize efficiency.

  • Identify cost cutting measures.

TheDistribution Supervisor is accountable to the Warehouse & Logistics Managerfor distribution team performance and s/he must accomplish team objectivesthrough team leadership and development. DUTIES& RESPONSIBILITIES: Theessential functions of this position include leading a group of Distributionteam members in a cost-efficient manner while supporting the development andmaintenance of the shipping and receiving functions of the company,prioritizing and completing all essential functions in a timely and efficientmanner, adjusting for changing priorities and availability of resources, anddemonstrating initiative and strategic thinking in identifying opportunitiesfor continuous improvement in each aspect of the position's span of control. * Lead Distribution team's daily activities whichwould include but not be limited to: (a) Assignteam members to specific tasks to support shipment and production plan asprovided by the Manager; (b) Review distribution workload and schedules to meetshipping and receiving objectives, maintain accuracy and attain outputrequirements; (c) Supervise team members in problem-solving activities thatenhance safety, quality and productivity objectives; (d) Provide key leadershipand support in regular cycle counting, as well as during annual inventoryprocess and quality audits; (e) Lead the team in working in a dynamicenvironment and managing space requirements for put-away, storage, retrieval ofproducts; and (f) Manage Sarbanes-Oxley compliance of the Distribution teamvia internal controls, self-assessment and reporting. * Contributeto a successful work group through positive interactions, active listening, meaningfulcollaborations, and the constructive exchange of ideas designed to meet orexceed the organization's strategic goals. LeadDistribution team members by: (a) Participating in employment, training, development, team membermotivation, counseling and discipline; (b) Working with team members to improvetheir performance and team contribution by providing growth and developmentopportunities via (cross-)training and performance evaluations; (c) Ensuringmaintenance and checklist requirements of equipment and a safe, cleanenvironment; (d) Communicating effectively across teams and shifts; (e)Maintaining metrics, records, and documentation to reflect schedules,performance, methods, and procedures for the team and reporting these to theManager; and (f) Gathering data and making suggestions to Manager forcontinuous improvement initiatives in the Distribution area. * Participatewith strategic and tactical activities such as: (a) Actively participate in theWarn selection process in compliance with all applicable laws and policies; (b)Work with Manager to develop and maintain budget for assigned team; (c)Exemplify and act as change-agent for safety, quality and productivityobjectives through application of problem-solving and CI techniques, andoperational systems such as MRP, Quality, TPM, etc.; and (d) Execute andcomplete projects within the team or between internal teams that supportsafety, quality and productivity. * Interactwith Manufacturing, Material Planning, Purchasing and Maintenance personnel insupport of production and capacity planning needs. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: * Threeor more year's proven success in a supervisory and/or managerial role in awarehouse and 3PL environment. * Collegecoursework preferred (Lean Manufacturing, APICS, Warehouse Management System(WMS), Quality Systems preferred). * Fiveor more years of relevant experience in a manufacturing/distribution leadershiprole. * Proficientwith MSOffice including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. Experience in working with MaterialsRequirements Planning (MRP) tools and Warehouse Management Systems (WMS); JDEexperience preferred. * Strongoral and written communication skills * Workfor extended periods of time in a stationary position as well as ability tomove to, from and work within the office, production and warehouse work areas.
