BELLEVUE ICE CREAM PLANT-8485A-BELLEVUE-WAAlbertsons Safeway is working to become the favorite food and drug retailer in every market it serves. The organization includes 2,230 stores, 27 distribution facilities and 20 manufacturing plants with over 250,000 employees across 34 states and the District of Columbia.

The company is privately owned with supermarkets across the country that include: Albertsons, Safeway, Vons, Pavilions, Randalls, Tom Thumb, Carrs, ACME, Jewel-Osco, Lucky, Shaw's, Star Market, Super Saver, United Supermarkets, Market Street and Amigos.

The Supply Chain Department has an opening for a Plant Supervisor. This position is located at the Bellevue Ice Cream Plant in Bellevue WA

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

Supervise production and warehouse crews.

Utilize World Class Manufacturing techniques to drive operational results and performance measures.

Develop labor schedules

Tracking and investigating waste

Ability to coach and lead teams to achieve performance, quality, cost, and service goals.

Ensure adherence to company policies, procedures and practices.

Administrative duties related to production, shipping and quality performance.

Design, monitor, and maintain a safe working environment.

Maintain a high level of customer service for retail and public customers.

Cultivate a positive and innovative work environment.

Ability to create a master sanitation schedule and SSOP's (Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures) from scratch.

Create operational SOP's.

Provide employees with feedback.

Experience with CIP systems, building a scorecard, graph, and/or chart to track KPI's (Key Performance Indicators) from scratch

QUALIFICATIONS:
4-year college degree in Food Science, Management, Manufacturing or related field preferred.
5+ years' experience in a manufacturing environment, food manufacturing experience preferred.
3+ years' experience in direct supervision in a manufacturing environment.

USDA, FDA, and WSDA experience is highly preferred.

Understanding of manufacturing regulations regarding safety, quality, HACCP and GMP's.

Experience with plant safety programs.

Excellent organizational skills with a high degree of initiative and flexibility.

Good analytical and problem-solving skills.

Strong interpersonal, communication, and team building skills.

Proven ability to define performance measures related to the business and hold associates accountable for the same.

Ability to analyze cost performance data to improve operations and reduce costs.

Must be comfortable at giving and receiving open feedback.

Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Must possess the following traits; proactive, risk taker, courage, and the ability to accept change.

Proven ability to define performance measures related to the business and hold associates accountable to the same.

Primary Purpose: Primarily responsible for supervising shift employees who perform one or a combination of manual or machine food processing operations, warehousing, sanitation Qualifications: * BS/BA in related field preferred. Experience may substitute for education. * Depending on education level may have 1 - 5 years' experience in production/manufacturing environment with industry experience. * Must have inventory cycle counting experience. * Proven understanding of production/operations/manufacturing requirements. * Ability to manage and develop employees. * Working experience with equipment/maintenance. * Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing. * Proven time management skills. * Working knowledge of MS applications including proficiency with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and ability to grasp additional business-related applications Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: * Plan, lead, direct operation activities on the shift and give appropriate feedback to employees. * Build teams and assign accountability. * Develop a work environment within manufacturing that promotes trust, teamwork quality and safety. * Ensure production of a quality product in compliance with Safeway, Federal and State guidelines. Ensure regulatory compliance as appropriate (OSHA, EPA, FDA, USDA, HACCP, Etc.) * Responsible for all processes on the shift. * Oversee activities including ordering, processing, packaging, sanitation, and shipping of all plant products and services. * May schedule production, schedule crews, order materials, and/or order supplies. * Plan, delegate, and monitor progress on work assignments and special projects. * Perform physical inventory and track movements. * Including inventory control under Working Capital guideline. * Manage to assign financial budget targets * working capital, labor mgt, waste mgt and efficiency. * Utilize new technology and Lean manufacturing principles and processes available to maximize efficiency. * Identify cost cutting measures. * Travel 5% or less.
