What you will do:

Directs and coordinates activities concerned with production of products by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.

How you will do it:

Confers with management personnel to establish production and quality control standards, develop budget and cost controls, and to obtain data regarding types, quantities, specifications, and delivery dates of products ordered.

Plans and directs production activities and establishes production priorities for products in keeping with effective operations and cost factors.

Coordinates production activities with procurement, maintenance, and quality control activities to obtain optimum production and utilization of human resources, machines, and equipment.

Reviews and analyzes production, quality control, maintenance, and operational reports to determine causes of nonconformity with product specifications, and operating or production problems.

Develops and implements operating methods and procedures designed to eliminate operating problems and improve product quality.

Revises production schedules and priorities as result of equipment failure or operating problems.

Consults with engineering personnel relative to modification of machines and equipment in order to improve production and quality of products.

Conducts hearings to resolve or effect settlement of grievances and refers unresolved grievances for management union negotiations.

Compiles, stores, and retrieves production data.

Manages several subordinate supervisors who supervise a numerous production employees. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the plant.

Also directly supervises production planners. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, (in cooperation with Human Resources) and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

VIEW JOBS 3/20/2019 12:00:00 AM 2019-06-18T00:00 What you will do Responsible for the implementation of the plant environmental & safety management systems; which includes compliance with applicable regulations, promoting pollution prevention & waste reduction, training employees and the overall reduction of the plant's impact on the environment. Responsible for reducing work related injuries by continuously improving the safety management system and leading cultural change by demonstrating exceptional leadership and engaging employees on all levels. Responsible for the implementation of safety programs, employee training, compliance monitoring, maintaining reporting mechanisms and management of accidents, property losses and workers compensation. Responsibilities will include providing support to two or three additional facilities within close proximity to the primary location. How you will do it * Evaluating the safety management system for its effectiveness and maintaining documented continuous improvement plans to improve performance. * Engaging and directing the leadership staff in their safety roles and responsibilities. Effectively communicating safety responsibilities to all employees. * Engaging the entire work force both salary and hourly to drive cultural change and accomplishing safety performance objectives and targets. * Insuring compliance with all federal, state and local regulatory requirements and JCI corporate safety systems, and acting as the lead contact with regulatory agencies. * Performing incident investigations using a formal process, with the focus on root cause, corrective and preventive actions and verification. * Providing effective training for all safety programs including but not limited to lockout/tagout, machine guarding, fall protection, powered industrial vehicle, hazard communication, personal protective equipment, electrical safety, confined space, respiratory protection and walking and working surfaces. * Developing and implementing motivational and incentive programs that promote a high degree of safety awareness and enthusiasm. * Establish, record, and track safety performance metrics, both leading and lagging indicators. * Insuring that behavior based observation programs are effectively implemented and tracked. * Performing or insuring compliance with industrial hygiene testing and other requirements. * Reviewing planned changes and new equipment installations prior to receipt. Approves or recommends changes in manufacturing and engineering matters of plant layout, location/relocation of machinery, equipment, facilities, safety designs, and processes. * Insures that the safety committee is comprised of both management and hourly participants. Actively participates and insure that the committee is effective and value added. * Trains all new employees concerning plant safety rules and guidelines. Works with management in a joint effort to provide the worker with a safe attitude, safe surroundings and safe equipment. * Managing workers compensation and reducing costs by working closely with insurance carriers, JCI workers compensation manager, attorneys and state authorities, along with in-house supervisors and managers. Manages each claim from the accident report to the return of the worker for modified duty and ultimately to claim closure. * Managing property risk by insuring compliance with FM Global assessments and routinely touring the property and conducting inspections to insure compliance. * Implement the corporate environmental management system. Collect environmental data for use in determining root-causes of compliance problems and pollution prevention opportunities. Implement proactive corrective steps. * Must complete and submit applicable environmental reports in a timely fashion (such as TierII, TRI Form R, Generator's Residual Waste, Waste-Water Self-Monitoring, and Air Emissions Inventory). * Must record and maintain spreadsheets containing all paint booth, fin press and parts washer chemical usage and air emissions. * Is responsible for the administration, implementation and compliance with the ISO14001 Environmental Management System (acts as the plant management representative). * Oversees hazardous and non-hazardous waste program. This includes ensuring the correct handling, packaging, labeling, storage and transportation of waste to approved treatment and/or disposal facilities. * Coordinates air emission, wastewater, storm water, and waste testing. * Present safety and environmental training programs to workers and supervisors. Some standardized materials will be made available and development of site specific training materials will be required. * Responsible for driving Safety Performance in the Plant to achieve and maintain Goal of No Recordable Accidents and No Lost Time Accidents. * Responsible for performing 2 Behavior Based Safety Observations monthly * Ensures Safety Training is completed as required for Direct Reports What we look for Required * Bachelor of Science degree in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or Environmental and Occupational Science preferred. * Five to Ten years of safety and/or environmental experience in an industrial/manufacturing environment is preferred. * Must be proficient in Microsoft Applications including Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Internet software and E-mail experience are also required. * The employee is occasionally required to lift up to 50 pounds. Preferred * Ability to analyze data, convey findings and implement action plans. * Strong interpersonal skills and teamwork oriented. * Working knowledge and experience with SafeStart, STOP or other behavior based safety program preferred. * Working knowledge and experience with LEAN manufacturing techniques preferred. * Excellent verbal and written communication skills. * Strong problem solving skills. * Excellent knowledge of PC applications * Excellent communication skills. Ability to foster solid relationships within the facility while achieving key operating objectives as it relates to environmental, health and safety. * Bilingual (English & Spanish) preferred.
