Plant Project Coordinator

Utz Quality Foods is seeking a Plant Project Coordinator to join our team of manufacturing professionals at the Golden Flake Manufacturing plant in Birmingham, AL. Candidates with working knowledge of manufacturing processes are encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities

• Experienced managerial position. A successful candidate would have the opportunity to move into other management positions within the company.

• Must possess or have the ability to quickly develop an in-depth working knowledge of company procedures.

• Integral to all ERP functionality. Works with manufacturing and finance teams to resolve discrepancies, close production runs and address variances.

• Ensure plant activities adhere to Continuous Improvement/Lean standards; understands principles and has the ability to identify root causes. Uses analytical data to identify opportunities and facilitates improvement projects.

• Functions as back-up scheduler to include planning weekly and seasonal production, analyzing inventory and demand data, working with sales to meet projections, coordinating with purchasing to ensure availability of raw materials and packaging components, and managing inventory process and taking action to resolve variances.

• Manages all sample requests (formal and informal)- coordinates with Sales, Tech Services, and manufacturing counterparts on all sample requests and delivers samples as needed.

• Acts as Plant Safety Representative; runs monthly safety meetings; manages all safety actions from start to finish.

• Coordinates all actions for first production runs, including raw materials, packaging materials, special requests.

• Fills in for Managers and Supervisors on all shifts as needed. Must be able to learn each of the positions in the plant.

• Develops and maintains standard operating procedures for existing processes and procedures.

• Utilizes Redzone data system information to improve production efficiency.

• Responsible to follow all safety rules and work safely at all times, report unsafe equipment and practices to supervisor and adhere to all Good Manufacturing Practices.

• Working knowledge of Manufacturing Processes. Specific knowledge of individual plant processes is preferred.

• Bachelors or Associates Degree highly desired.
