Performs a variety of tasks including basic carpentry, plumbing, HVAC, boiler and heat exchanger operations, fire alarm panel and equipment operation associated with general plant maintenance for hospital environments. Performs other duties as required. Supports and adheres to St. Luke Medical Center/Tempe St. Luke's Hospital guest relations philosophy to ensure that our patients, physicians, visitors, and co-workers receive outstanding personal care and attention.

Regulatory Requirements:

  • Minimum Education: Vocational training / experience in carpentry, painting, electrical and plumbing trades.

  • Minimum Experience: 3 to 4 years previous Central Plant (boiler room) experience in a hospital or industrial plant. 2 years previous experience in general maintenance work. Ability to read, write, speak and understand English. Must have a valid AZ drivers license.

  • Required Certification/Registration

Language Skills:

  • Ability to read and communicate effective in English.

  • Additional languages preferred


  • Basic computer knowledge.

JOB DESCRIPTION: The Processor/Filler Operator is responsible for all tasks associated with retort or aseptically sterilizing, filling and sealing of Infant and Medical Nutritionals. Functions include, but are not limited to, the operation of all related filling, processing and sterilizing equipment and sampling responsibilities. The operator will also be responsible for safety, general housekeeping and team support. Operators may also be required to operate finishing equipment (palletizer, labeler, casepacker, capper, etc.) Major Responsibilities: * Responsible for implementing and maintaining the effectiveness of the quality system. * Reacts and takes corrective action to all deviations to the normal production conditions. Monitors charts and performs tests to assure sterility. * Reviews and performs calculation for work orders and charts. * Operates CIP/SIP processor/filling equipment including hookups. * Responsible for the timely and accurate completion of the work order and other required documentation. * Responsible for maintaining a safe and clean working environment. * Monitors and evaluates hydrogen peroxide levels throughout the filler, making adjustments as necessary. * Effectively communicates within the department and plant with all levels of the organization. * Performs preventive maintenance as required on production equipment. * Responsible for maintaining and replenishing production materials. * Completes general housekeeping and sanitation tasks. * Responsible for maintaining accurate records on all inventories. This position is accountable for complying with applicable FDA (GMP), USDA, OSHA and Abbott Nutrition regulations, policies, procedures or guidelines. Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent. Some college or vocational schooling preferred. Background: Knowledge of applicable regulatory standards and requirements for infant formula and nutritionals. Experience: Prior food manufacturing or similar batch process with a heavy emphasis on Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and computer-controlled systems preferred. Skills: Must possess good written, verbal, computer, and mechanical skills. Possess good interpersonal skills and be able to work safely in a team environment. The candidate must have the ability to multi-task in a dynamic environment with the ability to comprehend quickly utilizing good judgment and problem solving skills while maintaining product quality and area GMP at all times. Accountability/Scope/Budget: Contribute to the overall effectiveness of the plant operations by producing high quality products in a timely manner. The department will accomplish this objective in accordance with GMP, SMP and safety requirements with minimum product/ingredient loss through efficient use and maximum utilization of manpower assigned.
