Position Description

Are you ready to be the driving force behind the seamless operations of our industrial facility? Join our team at Applied Medical as a Plant Operations Technician and you'll be at the forefront of maintaining and optimizing our critical machinery and systems. Key Responsibilities:

  • Mechanical Systems Installation and Maintenance

Install, maintain, and repair air compressors and related equipment. Remove and replace units, connecting components, and integrating them into existing systems. Provide service and maintenance for equipment independently, ensuring a seamless and reliable operation. Conduct inspections, tests, and mathematical calculations related to system integrity and performance, showcasing proficiency in pipe fitting, welding, and material handling.

  • Troubleshooting:

Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions, identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions. Respond promptly to breakdowns and emergencies to minimize production interruptions.

  • Safety Compliance:

Adhere to and promote safety protocols and regulations within the facility. Participate in safety inspections, ensuring a secure and compliant working environment.

  • Collaboration:

Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineers and other technicians, to address complex operational challenges. Communicate effectively with team members to ensure seamless coordination.

  • Continuous Improvement:

Identify opportunities for process optimization and efficiency improvements. Implement best practices to enhance overall plant operations.

Performance Objectives:

Within your first 30 days:

  • Understand and comply with Applied Medical's Quality Systems (QS), safety rules, and company policies.

  • Train with fellow team and team leader during normal business hours (Monday through Friday).

  • Follow all Manufacturing Instructions (MI), Quality System Regulations (QSR), International Organization for Standardizations (ISO), Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), work rules, safety guidelines, and maintenance tasks to the specific requirements.

  • Tour the facility to understand the layout, key areas, and critical equipment locations. Review blueprints and technical documentation related to plant operations.

  • Embrace a teamwork philosophy to influence the team to meet or exceed production and quality goals.

Within 60 days:

  • Engage in hands-on training to enhance proficiency in equipment maintenance, repairs, and installations. Practice pipe fitting, welding, and fabrication techniques under supervision.

  • Assist in ongoing projects, taking on progressively more complex tasks. Contribute to equipment maintenance and service activities, gradually increasing independence.

  • Become proficient in documenting maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs accurately. Learn the company's record-keeping system for efficient tracking of work performed.

  • Strengthen collaboration with team members, actively seeking feedback and contributing ideas. Attend additional training sessions or workshops to enhance skills and knowledge.

  • Take the lead on a specific maintenance or installation projects with minimal supervision. Demonstrate the ability to troubleshoot and address challenges independently.

  • Identify areas for process optimization and efficiency improvements. Propose and implement innovative solutions to enhance plant operations.

  • Ensure the highest standards in equipment maintenance, adhering to quality and safety protocols.

  • Conduct thorough inspections and tests to validate the integrity of installed systems.

  • Establish a feedback loop with the team to receive and provide constructive input.

  • Share insights gained during the initial months and collaborate on continuous improvement initiatives.

Position Requirements

  • More than five years of related experience.

  • Experience using hand and power tools.

  • Ability to lift more than 50 pounds.

  • Utilize experience and expertise in compressed air maintenance and repair.

  • Experience modifying, installing, and repairing copper piping through brazing and other techniques.

  • Demonstrate familiarity with central plant and manufacturing plant operations.

  • Apply knowledge of construction methods for institutional, industrial, and commercial structures.

  • Knowledge of California Occupational Safety and Health Administration (Cal OSHA) safety requirements.

  • Adaptability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
