General Purpose

Supervises a location or segment of a larger department. Implements business objectives, strategies, and plans and manages daily work functions. Responsible for selecting, coaching, and developing employees. Implements and supports Company programs, policies, and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment by observing safety and security procedures, and reporting/correcting potentially unsafe conditions as outlined in the PacifiCorp Accident Prevention Manual.

  • Hold supervised employees accountable to work safely and productively.

  • Monitor and ensure local, state and federal environmental compliance regulations are strictly enforced.

  • Supervise represented employees within the guidelines of the applicable working agreement.

  • Perform supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the company's policies, procedures and guidelines.

  • Implement business objectives, strategies, and plans.

  • Supervise the daily operation of the entire generating unit or plant.

  • Coach and develop employees through communication and measurement of performance and provide appropriate on-going feedback.

  • Direct on-the-job training for operator trainees/apprentices and new control operators.

  • Ensure generation expectations are delivered through cooperative relationships with corporate trading and load dispatching groups.

  • Build and maintain cooperative working relationships with other departments, including Administration, Engineering, and Maintenance.

  • Develop and implement thermal efficiency improvement initiatives.

  • Monitor and control costs associated with the operations of the plant.

  • Coordinate priorities to insure critical maintenance work is accomplished.

  • Develop, maintain and update plant operating procedures and guidelines.

  • Maximize generation and maintain efficient operation of all plant processes associated with power plant.

Requirements

  • The equivalent combination of plant operations experience and education or bachelor's degree in an applicable field.

  • A minimum of five years of operations experience in a coal fired power plant or similar industrial facility.

  • Communication and interpersonal skills to communicate expectations, coach employees, provide feedback, and work collaboratively with other departments.

  • Ability to make timely decisions during critical plant conditions.

  • Basic computer skills, including e-mail and word processing.

Preferences

  • Knowledge of coal fired plant operations and plant systems.

  • Supervisory skills including the ability to implement action plans for achieving objectives, and to manage daily operations.

  • Familiarity with operational performance improvement to include heat rate, cycle isolation and turbine performance.

  • Working knowledge of boiler cycle chemistry.

  • Familiarity with maintenance management systems.

  • Experience with bargaining unit environments and collective bargaining agreements.

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office tools.

Presents analysis and recommendations to management and may implement selected alternative. Analyses include, but are not limited to, feasibility studies, cost/benefit analysis, trending/forecasting, financial analysis, budget analysis and reporting. Responsibilities Responsibilities of the mid-level position include the following: * Analyze and review the reorder points and maximum stock levels, ensuring maximum use of cash flow. * Analyze, project, and determine if inventory quantities are sufficient for current needs and determine inventory levels base on historical trends and forecasted weather patterns. * Develop analysis of order trends to determine JIT orders. * Contact suppliers in order to schedule or expedite deliveries and to resolve shortages, missed or late deliveries, and other moderately complex problems. * Create and maintain a source list for materials on contract. * Develop inventory analysis and performance reports. * Generate requisitions to cover spot buy material requirements. * Validate and verify unusual material requirements in the material planning system. * Maintain the correct lead time information in the material master for all materials in the warehouse with information provided by Procurement. * Participate in the determination of energy levels and maintain those levels in the system. * Participate in the Material Transition Review (MTR) process and maintain the reorder system to support the transition of materials.- In addition to the above, the responsibilities of the Sr. level position include: * Oversee the inventory replenishment and requisition generation for material requirements. * Manage the overall inventory investment and risks for the entire inventory and the individual materials with inventory requirements. * Validate and maintain the reorder information in the system to ensure that it is current and valid. * Release reorder system and generated requisitions and manage inventory availability to support the construction and maintenance requirements of the Company. * Develop inventory objectives and strategy and the determination of the inventory reserve. * Review the requisitions generated by the reorder system by evaluating past usage, the current lead time, and the known requirements for each material, and change the reorder data to maintain the inventory at acceptable levels. * Verify inventory to confirm if existing inventory material can satisfy requirements at other locations. * Act as focal point for material availability for the warehouses and operations. * Act as the subject matter expert and provide guidance to associate and career level material analysts. Requirements The requirements of the mid-level position include the following: * Bachelor's Degree in Business, Supply and Logistics or a related field; or the equivalent combination of education and experience. * A minimum of three years work related experience. * Experience with consumption based planning or distribution type inventory management systems. * Knowledge of supply chain methodologies, models, and procedures. * Strong analytical skills; ability to analyze inventory data and identify issues, risks, and trends. * Ability to apply mathematical and analytical skills to inventory materials to identify trends, history and future activities and identify potential solutions and options. * Ability to prepare reports and presentations on a variety of inventory related subjects. * Knowledge of applicable Company policies and procedures; applicable federal, state, and local governmental laws and regulations. * Proficient with the use of personal computers including spreadsheet, database, word processing, and presentation applications to gather, analyze, and model information. * Communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to consult with internal and external customers regarding matters/issues which may be sensitive in nature. * Ability to work with all levels of an organization including people with different styles and backgrounds; ability to work as a member of a team.
