NUVIDA is a sister company of Sabert and is one of the world's leading processors and suppliers of food-grade recycled plastic resins. The Plant Manager is ultimately responsible for achieving the forecasted production levels of quality product while ensuring a safe work environment. The position will lead or direct all production, safety, house-keeping and training activities of production employees to safely ensure on-time production and delivery of quality and legally compliant products. Focus on operational excellence and cost reduction are to be achieved by employing best practices across the plant to realize consistent business results.
ESSENTIAL DUTES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Safety & Housekeeping
Ensure that all employees are properly trained in safety and that there is a continuous and daily effort to ensure compliance with all OSHA safety standards.
Ensure that at all times there is a clean and organized manufacturing work environment
Production
Ensure the targeted levels of daily and weekly volume of quality product is produced
Minimize downtime; address issues by establishing root cause and coordinating with Engineering for solutions
Ensure proper training and setup, coordinating with Maintenance to ensure equipment is always in running order; continuously evaluate ways to surpass standards
Continuously evaluate plans and resources in order to maximize production capability to ensure the plant is reaching its goals
Coordinate with Information Systems to produce monthly reports of labor, material, and machine efficiency; review reports to identify trends and opportunities for improvement
Manage material usage, production output, labor cost, scrap rate
Coordinate with Warehouse/Inventory Manager to ensure the proper staging of material at each work center for continuous production of quality product across all shifts
Responsible for a 24 hour per day, seven day per week production department
Quality
Ensure implementation of quality and food safety system for the recycling plant
Review customer complaints and corrective actions on a regular basis
Hold regular meetings and reviews to ensure quality and food safety systems are working as intended and facilitate corrective actions wherever necessary
Employee Training
Ensure all supervisors, team leads, setup employees, operators, grinders, dryers and material processing people know how to execute their jobs
Ensure all employees are being trained on their core responsibilities
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Fluent in Spanish & English
Persuasive leadership skills and a desire to coach and train
Planning, organizing and prioritizing skills
Mechanical inclination and strong technical ability; must possess troubleshooting and problem solving skills
Able to work effectively with individuals at all levels (customers, employees, contractors)
Proficient in Microsoft Excel, working knowledge on Microsoft Word and Outlook
Understand and create layouts of new processes to ensure beneficial results
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Experience working in recycling or plastics production preferred
