Leprino's Remus, MI manufacturing facility is seeking a highly qualified Plant Manager to continue moving our organization to even larger levels of food quality, safety, and production efficiencies within our Cheese, Whey, and Processing departments.   • Will you use your natural leadership ability daily to build, lead, mentor, develop, and grow highly functioning manager-level direct reports within materials/warehouse, maintenance/engineering, production, quality, and HR/safety.

  • Manage the facility's financial performance to assure that a quality product is provided at the least possible cost.

  • Plan and direct production schedules, initiation of capital expense requests, scheduling of maintenance for all equipment upkeep, safety programs, employee technical training, and employee relations.

  • Become a technical subject matter expert in whey protein and pasta filata (stretched curd) cheese production.

  • Maintain high cheese processing, MCSL, and warehouse quality, yields, and productivity.

  • Monitoring equipment maintenance, manpower scheduling and training, supervisory/management development, and keeping abreast of new product development and technological changes.

  • Performance of this position can be measured by pounds per man hour of production; quality and shipping specifications of product produced; cost per pound of cheese, processing and whey; employee morale that may be identified by safety performance and attendance.

Scope of Plant Responsibility:

  • Daily incoming milk volume of 800k pounds resulting in an annual volume of almost 44 million pounds of Mozzarella String Cheese.

  • 153 person/62,800 square foot string mozzarella and sweet whey manufacturing plant.

  • Leading a team of 8 direct and 145 indirect personnel.

You Have (Minimum Qualifications):

  • The potential and desire to continue growing as a Leprino Plant Manager and taking on larger plant assignments throughout our other US locations.

  • A Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Dairy Science, Chemical Engineering, or related discipline.

  • Eight (8) years of previous experience as a superintendent, production manager, or small plant manager in a cheese or whey manufacturing facility.

  • Direct leadership experience over managers within the dairy or cheese industry.

  • Knowledge and ability to manage CI processes such as Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, etc.

We Hope You Also Have (Preferred Qualifications):

  • A Master's in Food or Dairy Science, Food Technology, or Chemical Engineering including ten (10) years as a production leader in a dairy manufacturing facility (milk, cream, etc.) with at least four years in cheese or whey protein production.
