Praxair Surface Technologies (PST), a subsidiary of Linde plc, a company that primarily supplies atmospheric, process, specialty gases, high performance coatings, and related services & technologies is seeking a Plant Manager for its New Castle, PA, coating services operation.

The Plant Manager is responsible for all manufacturing and production related operations. This individual plans, organizes, leads and controls the facility to achieve established strategic and tactical goals.

Plant Manager

  • Maximizes production and shipments for the business on a monthly basis

  • Ensures that operations performs its duties in a manner that complies with all safety regulations and allows employees to leave work each day in the same physical condition as they arrived

  • Develops appropriate plans and procedures in support of business safety strategies and policies, and promotes safety practices throughout the organization

  • Establishes appropriate operational metrics and maintains them continuously; utilizes modern manufacturing management methods, including 5S, cell-based goals and daily Gemba walks

  • Implements and manages to quality standards and production schedules to ensure high FPY and low Cost of Poor Quality, along with outstanding On Time Delivery

  • Determines causes for excessive departure from plan and initiates corrective action, as well as assists in developing plans to achieve short and long-term goals for the business

  • Monitors production processes to ensure that Quality Assurance, Job Instructions, and shop practices are properly maintained to ensure customer satisfaction while minimizing product liability risks

  • Assesses rework levels; ensures that process capability problems are identified and resolved; and, evaluates customer complaint trends to determine resources necessary to meet customer needs

  • Develops plans for the elimination of non-value adding costs and aggressively pursues continuous process improvement through Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies

  • Implements strategic and tactical plans for the plant operation

  • Develops input for the strategic plan for the business

  • Assists in preparing an annual business plan with primary focus on operational performance, specific objectives, contingency plans and resource requirements

  • Ensures site alignment with corporate personnel, business integrity, and other enterprise-wide policies

  • Develops and maintains a comprehensive knowledge of the business environment

This position reports to the General Manager

  • Bachelor's Degree in a technical field required

  • 7 years of Operations experience required

  • 5 years of Management experience with profit and loss responsibility

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong computer proficiency (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Databases, etc.)

  • Thermal Spray Coatings industry experience is a plus

  • Oil & Gas knowledge is a plus

This position is responsible for planning, organizing, and leading the quality efforts in both Quality Control (QC) and Quality Assurance (QA) for the business to ensure customer satisfaction. This person will partner with customers and production to track quality performance of plant, COPQ, NCRs, reworks, customer complaints, delivery; analyzes trends and works with production to determine and implement corrective actions as well as reports quality data to PST corporate quality. The individual will also work with customers and production in addressing quality questions / problems, providing recommendations, as well as establishing and monitoring corrective actions. Plant Quality Manager * Partners with Plant Manager to establish quality vision and standard * Maintains AS/ISO and NBBI registrations, as applicable * Coordinates and/or performs internal audits per established schedule to evaluate location's compliance * Coordinates assists in external audits by customers, corporate quality and AS/ISO registrar * Drives reduction in COPQ (Cost of Poor Quality) * Manages non-conformance disposition and trend analysis * Leads root cause analysis of high cost and high frequency non-conformances * Develops and implements corrective actions to address non-conformances identified by audits and root cause analysis * Drives issue resolution based upon customer feedback * Develops / reviews / revises quality system procedures and SOPs as necessary * Maintains and controls procedures, instructions and records * Responsible for lab services to support production. * Maintains plant equipment and gauge calibration schedule including budgets * Maintains met lab equipment and evaluates lab technician performance * Coordinates training schedules for quality programs and maintains training records * Establishes and documents product quality standards. Responsible for release of and training against those standards * Supervises quality personnel / technicians including training, direction, controlling work procedures, etc. to meet objectives * Implements quality control guidelines and procedures to ensure that raw materials and finished goods comply with engineering and product specifications * Bachelor's degree in a technical field * 5-10 years of experience working with quality tools and methodologies * Experience with ISO/AS/ASME/NBBI quality systems * Continuous improvement experience a plus and 7-10 years of relevant work experience preferred. * Management experience with direct reports desired. Operations management a strong plus * Must possess organizational skills with the ability to use resource materials to manage multiple projects * Strong data analysis skills.
