Brief Overview: Safeway Milk Plant in San Leandro, CA is looking to add a Plant Manager to our dynamic team! If you are an enthusiastic leader with the passion to engage with and build up your team, we would be thrilled to meet you! The operation that you would be leading has experienced tremendous growth over the past 7 years with significant investments in expanding the plants production capabilities to include HTST Milk processing, ESL dairy processing, and most recently, a $50MM investment in a non dairy creamer ESL production line. The Plant has the largest operating budget in the 20 plant manufacturing operation. Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Responsible for the management of various manufacturing functions within a complex production facility, optimizing operational and financial results while meeting all customer requirements for quality and on time product delivery
Establish a Safety first work environment by walking the walk and making sure that safety is a point of daily observation and enforcement
Strong people leader with the ability to connect with personnel at all levels of the organization
Solid organizer with the ability to adapt priorities to address the biggest needs of the business
Be a high energy change agent by ensuring that the fundamentals of World Class Manufacturing exist and are follow in all areas of the business to maximize business performance
Develop a work environment within manufacturing that promotes trust, teamwork, quality, and safety
Ensure adherence to Company policies and procedures.
Empower workforce, build teams, assign accountability, hire, develop, evaluate, train, coach, succession planning, and manage union contract negotiations etc.
Accountable for the controllable costs and capital execution of the plant. Identify and manage capital projects. Identify, relay to upper management, and implement efficiency and cost cutting measures that will improve operational results. Benchmark facility's costs and pricing to ensure competitive levels are maintained.
Identify new market opportunities both inside and outside of the Company, while expanding and supporting current business.
Ensure production of a quality product in compliance with Company, Federal and State guidelines. Ensure regulatory compliance as appropriate (OSHA, EPA, FDA, USDA, HACCP, Etc.).
Minimum Qualifications:
Preferred Qualifications:
Four-year college degree in Food Science, Engineering, and/or Business Management preferred
Experience with fluid Dairy and ESL processing a big plus
Financial/budget management experience
Ability to recognize, organize, and prioritize multiple high priority projects
Ability delegate, assign responsibilities, follow up, and drive accountability at all levels of the organization
Capital project development, cost estimation and management skills
Proven negotiation, management, interpersonal, coaching and team building skills
Managing for Results/ Development skills
Production Engineering knowledge
Ability to interface with regulatory agencies
Exceptional verbal/written communication
Experience with equipment/maintenance
Knowledge of MS applications including proficiency with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and ability to grasp additional business-related applications
