Essential FunctionsReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Ensure manufacturing operations are running effectively in the areas of safety, quality, efficiency/productivity, cost, and team member morale. Provide direction and motivation to group leaders focusing on safety, quality, efficiency, cost, and morale.

Conduct daily manufacturing production area audits to ensure procedures for safety, quality, equipment, and training are being followed and all aspects of manufacturing are effective including correcting sub-standards. Lead development of Manufacturing Managers. Implement short and long term corrective actions for manufacturing problems.

Ensure all departmental procedures are compliant with quality and environmental management systems and programs. Monitor daily build sheets and analyze efficiency rates and downtime to ensure customer requirements are being met. Coordinate and maintain standardization of processes/methods.

Lead identification of manufacturing problems and eliminate waste. Develops, leads, monitors, and participates in a Manufacturing continuous improvement system. Implement, monitor, and maintain a clean, organized department.

Assists Manufacturing Managers in developing, planning, and maintaining the budget including making adjustments to achieve targets. Review and track Manufacturing Key Performance Indicators (KPI) including leading problem solving for negative trends or goals not met. Participates in management discussions and planning sessions to help formulate cost reduction, product improvement, and problem solving activities.

Develops and maintains positive team member relations centered on mutual trust, dignity, respect, fairness, consistency, two-way communication, teamwork, and harmony. Provides direction and motivation to team members emphasizing quality, efficiency, productivity, cost reduction, safety and health, and morale. Ensures further development of group leaders, team leaders, and team members through performance evaluation, development of training plans, feedback, coaching, corrective action, and cascade training. Update team member training matrix and schedule any needed training.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day.

The employee may have to lift and/or move items over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time salary position, and hours of work and days are decided by production and your reporting General Manager.

Travel

Travel would be minimal and would be primarily local during the business day.

Required Education and Experience

Minimum of a college degree and 2 to 3 years of factory-related experience. Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office and Navision.

Preferred Education and Experience

Manufacturing/industry experience. Management/Leadership experience.

SUMMARY The Plant Manager is responsible for achieving customer satisfaction, productivity objectives, operating schedules, and vendor relations and economic goals of ferrous and non-ferrous scrap for the Elkhart facility. Responsibilities also include cultivating a cohesive environment where work-life balance is encouraged through safety adherence, team values and supporting personal commitments to realize organizational success. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS * Supervises the Assistant Plant Manager and up to 35 employees in both ferrous and nonferrous departments * Directs and delegates essential activities of direct reports in the handling and processing of all scrap materials * Ensures production scheduling and labor requirements are achieved at all times * Ensures cost and profitability objectives are achieved * Oversees outbound and inbound transportation activities for the Plant * Ensures adherence to OSHA safety standards, environmental regulations, and Schupan protocols in partnership with the Health, Safety, and Environmental Department * Ensures employee discussion/infraction and performance evaluations are performed following company policies and procedures and partners with Talent Management Retention (TMR) department when necessary * Partners with the TMR department as necessary for corrective actions, including termination of employment * Ensures inventory, scheduling, and the shipping and receiving of materials are completed on time, as well as implementing contingency plans when necessary * Confirms monthly schedule for maintenance of all plant equipment to the VP of SIRS Operation * Purchases parts and supplies as budgeted and by following company procedures * Ensures full compliance of ISO policies and procedures within the Plant REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE * 3-5 years of previous Scrap Yard management experience * 2-4 year degree in management or related field preferred Schupan & Sons Elkhart IN
