Job Description:

United States Steel Corporation is seeking an Inventory and Contractor Services Manager for its new Fairfield Tubular Steel Operations (FTSO). The initial focus of this role will be administering service contracts, which involves tracking, maintaining records and reporting on contractor activity and performance. The role will also be responsible for plant warehouse management, beginning with Air Separation Unit inventory, then Maintenance Services & Utilities and EAF/Caster inventory, as well as general FTSO commodity inventory. This position will offer the opportunity for growth and development in the Steelmaking industry for candidates interested in the potential for advancement.

Duties for this position include:

  • Providing weekly summary report of contractor work including budget, receipts, unaudited liabilities, invoiced amounts and payments

  • Coordinating strategic warehouse decisions in a capital asset intensive industry

  • Coordinating deliveries and inventory movement in the warehouse

  • Coordinating kitting and distribution of requested inventory. Working with Reliability Centered Maintenance and Operation departments to ensure parts kits are delivered for scheduled jobs

  • Coordinating receiving and inspection of incoming materials

  • Coordinating the repair process for rotatable spares by interacting with suppliers and Reliability Centered Maintenance

  • Coordinating all physical inventory activities including bar coding, tagging, and optimizing warehouse density

  • Coordinating all emergency delivery and expediting requirements

  • Working closely with Reliability Centered Maintenance managers to identify opportunities to reduce inventory, streamline warehouse operations

  • Coordinating training of all warehouse personnel

  • Candidate must be able to ensure plant procedures are followed with regards to safety, equipment inspection, operating and housekeeping

  • Candidate must be able to lead / supervise a team of warehouse personnel and expeditors

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in related field preferred

  • Candidate must be assertive, a quick learner, and have excellent interpersonal communications (oral and written), and computer skills

  • Candidate must be able to work and communicate (written and oral) with plant leadership, management, and operating personnel

  • An understanding of purchasing supply chain processes, mechanical or electrical maintenance, and Oracle /ERP system is a plus
