Job Description:

Scope and Authority

Location: Daramic, LLC - Owensboro KY

Authority: Incumbent has the authority to enforce corrective action and ensure these job expectations are met and enforced in order to facilitate environmental, safety and quality management systems.

Reporting Relationships

Report to: Plant Manager

Supervises: Maintenance, Project Engineering, Reliability Engineering, Facilities, and Electrical Controls Engineering




  • Understand the importance of conformance with the environmental policy relevant procedures and the requirements of the EMS (Environmental Management System).

  • Understand the environmental impacts associated with their work activities and the environmental benefits of improved personal performance.

  • Understand their role in achieving conformance with the environmental policy, relevant procedures, and the requirements of the EMS, including preparedness and response.

  • Understand the potential consequences of deviation from specified operating procedures.

Immediately report any accidents and release to the Supervisor.

  • Recognize that adhering to job responsibilities and procedures regarding environmental, health and safety is a condition of employment

  • Comply with all environmental, safety, and health rules, policies, and programs established by the company to the extent of training received.


Providing customers with products and services that meet or exceed their expectations. This will be achieved through:

  • Continued improvement of processes at all levels of the organization


The Plant Engineering Manager must provide direction and align systems to ensure plant reliability losses are mitigated to a minimum level. This will be accomplished through leadership of maintenance management, facilities management, project engineering resources, and reliability/controls engineering. As a key member of plant operations staff at the Owensboro plant, this role will develop plant engineering team's objectives and targets to facilitate strong environmental, safety, and plant/production reliability performance that align with site wide operational goals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prioritize all ES&H related matters at highest level.

  • Ultimate responsibility through providing direction, facilitation, and support for daily execution of the following:

  • Maintenance

  • Utilities

  • Raw materials handling

  • Waste water

  • Electrical distribution

  • Control systems

  • Grind/Recycle

  • Capital projects

  • Process Safety Management - Mechanical Integrity

  • Prepare and manage maintenance & CAPEX budgets within established guidelines for all responsible areas.

  • Champion the site capital budgeting process that includes development of the annual capital plan to include work justification, project spending, and follow-up evaluation to verify return on investment.

  • Champion site power and other utilities reliability as well as monitoring energy consumption and energy conservation and improvement.

  • Provide technical leadership to ensure proper installation, operation, consistency of applications, and long term viability of manufacturing equipment.

  • Responsible for technical activities and projects that includes equipment design, automation, modification, purchase, installation, and commissioning.

  • Ensure maintenance develops into a proactive organization via the success and sustainment of Total Production Maintenance (TPM) system. Identify and then drive results for key performance indicators to achieve target maintenance performance.

  • Responsible for maintaining the facilities buildings and grounds in a cost effective manner that creates a positive image to customers and community.

  • Foster an environment of root cause problem solving as well as corrective action to prevent future reoccurrence.

  • Be proactive and integral leader for continuous improvement opportunities to improve plant ES&H risk and overall manufacturing cost.

  • Participate in employee performance management including goal setting, performance expectations, performance reviews, development planning, corrective action and succession planning

  • Provide regular communication to all team members and meaningful feedback to any employee concerns.

  • Provide on and off-hour emergency response including; equipment repair, damage control, and assignment of support personnel as needed.

  • Promote employee development through training and development for new and existing employees.

  • Keeps up on technological changes such as retrofitting machinery to meet today's new laws and efficiency standards.

  • Build teamwork across functional departments driving high expectations and accountability to all levels of the organization.

  • Performs other duties as requested by the Plant Manager.

Education and Experience

Education: BS in Engineering

Professional experience: Project management experience

10 years in manufacturing/maintenance management

Experience operating within a quality management system

Capital project/budgeting responsibilities

Union Experience preferred

Process Safety Management preferred

Communications: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Strengths in motivation, collaboration, initiative, and attention to detail

Ability and desire to work in a team oriented environment

Troubleshooting skills. Data analysis, and Six Sigma
