This position is a primary contributor to the safe and efficient operation of the Wichita, KS chemical facility. This position is part of the plant engineering team and will contribute to production oversight, process troubleshooting, process improvements and capital project development efforts to ensure budget rates, yields and product quality targets are met. This position will also support trials, capital projects, compliance requirements, and root cause investigations.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Responsible for providing technical support to the plant as assigned by the Production manager. This support includes technical changes/improvements, troubleshooting, and technical documentation.
• Assures technical availability of the production plant according to the production requirements, with continuous improvements, and in conformance to changing business and EHSQ requirements.
• Finds and recommends concepts and projects which target production and quality improvements in addition to cost reduction via systematic reduction of equipment bad actors.
• Uses sound engineering judgment along with guidance from Senior Engineering staff and Production Manager to improve plant processes.
• Must utilize creativity and foresight to initiate and to execute projects and to anticipate and solve problems with a focus on long term technical solutions.
• Prepares and or modifies basic process documentation (PFDs, P&IDs, equipment specifications) on capital projects and/or engineering studies.
• Implements New Product Introductions in cooperation with production and research & development.
• Define scope for small capex projects, initiate development work and set time schedules and cost estimates. Act as project manager on small capital projects.
• Responsible for all the basic process information and for all aspects of safety and environmental protection.
• The candidate is a self-starter and is business oriented in their work and shows a high level of cost awareness and responsibility.

REQUIREMENTS

• A Chemical engineering or similar degree with at least 1-3 years of experience is necessary for this position.
• Excellent cooperation with production and technical departments is essential for the success of this position.
• Broad based skills in engineering, process technology, planning and organizing, regulatory issues, and project cost and schedule management are required.
• Proven human relationship skills are required with emphasis on verbal and written communication.
• Functionality in SAP and EPIC are a plus for this role.
