Position Overview

We are currently seeking an Electrical Engineer to join our team in Durant, OK! The Plant Electrical Engineer will provide critical support to day to day plant operations. Steel Oklahoma is one of CMC's eleven steel mills that have a combined annual capacity of almost eight million tons. By producing steel from recycled metal in electric arc furnaces, we consume far fewer natural resources than blast furnace steelmakers. Using recycled metal allows us to lower CO2 emissions by 58%. Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Interact with technical engineers and non-technical operations personnel to integrate new technologies and update existing systems, as well as provide technical trouble shooting support to operations

  • Improvement projects from design through installation and startup.

  • Provide critical expertise on the plants low and medium voltage distribution system and associated equipment

  • Support maintenance by providing technical assistance in the scope of preventative maintenance, predictive maintenance, and other facets of reliability engineering

  • Assist in maintaining and improving the plant's process systems, including programmable logic controllers, process communications networks, and human machine interface equipment

Come grow your career with us! The Production Run Plant Engineer is the primary resource to optimize plant operations, resolve plant problems and enable safe production. The Run Plant Engineer works as a member of the plant operating team ensuring excellence in safety, quality, operations and maintenance. The role provides a technical resource to assist work teams on daily performance improvements, equipment modifications and upgrades, and new product qualifications and trials. The position requires that the Run Plant Engineer be available to assist whenever unexpected downtime or yield losses occur. Key Responsibilities: * Active support and participation in site environmental, health and safety initiatives to drive EH&S excellence. * Participates in and/or leads Management of Change Reviews * Provides leadership and direction in the day to day decision making for the operating area of responsibility, and monitors and intervenes with plant operators to meet quality and production targets * Works with the plant operators and quality team to ensure that the products conform to the manufacturing specifications * Participate in Root Cause Investigations and advanced trouble shooting as well as coach others to learn these skills * Has expert knowledge of the manufacturing process, products and technology, and works with Improvement Engineers and the Technology Center to ensure that equipment is performing to design specification * Track and report on critical process parameters, such as safety, environmental, production, quality, and yields on a regular basis in order to monitor business progress against goals * Update, review and approve Operating Procedures, P&ID's and Standard Operating Conditions according to the safety and quality system requirements of the site * Lead campaign-specific operator training and assist Process Owner with operator qualification in order to ensure that operators have the necessary skills to run the process * Supports new product manufacturing capability and new product qualifications. * Networks with other engineers on site and within the business to leverage knowledge on plant operations * Able to effectively lead optimization activities and ongoing process improvement initiatives, including projects for EH&S compliance, reliability, capacity, process consistency, quality and cost reduction Qualifications Required Qualifications: * A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering * Run Plant Engineers are required to be "on call", and in case of plant upsets, may be required to work additional hours as needed to help resume normal production Preferred Qualifications: * Ability to work effectively on multiple projects * Manufacturing plant work experience * Results oriented and driven * Strong problem solving skills * Strong interpersonal skills * Strong technical & communication skills * Six Sigma and LEAN experience would be helpful in this role Dow Agrosciences Durant OK
