Overview

The EHS Manager reports directly to the Plant Manager at the facility and be responsible for providing focus, definition, and technical expertise for the development of a proactive Environmental, Health, and Safety plan that is consistent with Pactiv Evergreen's (PTVE) corporate policies, vision, and values; and is in compliance with local, state, and federal EHS regulations.

Responsibilities:

  • Drive the development and implementation of EHS policies, procedures, and programs.

  • Lead the implementation and execution of the process safety management program.

  • Implement the PTVE Environmental, Health and Safety Management system model on ISO 14001 and 45001 standards.

  • Maintain updated OSHA and EPA required written programs and develop/conduct training as necessary.

  • Oversee the reporting and investigations of any potential injury, accident, and/or health and safety related issues.

  • Oversee and conduct the necessary environmental, health and safety training to support and enhance the organization's safety culture.

  • Develop and deploy policies, procedures, programs to support best-practice and identify best-practices with the PTVE system.

  • Provide communication and training to plant management, establish and maintain communications, reporting, assessments, training programs, and guidance.

  • Work with the Corporate EHS departments and provide prioritized direction and technical expertise to the engineering organizations or contractors in implementing EHS projects.

  • Be capable of sharing best practices to assist in driving change across the multiple locations.

  • Have a relentless pursuit for injury prevention, compliance, and risk reduction.

  • Be capable of facilitating and sponsoring employee led teams that solve problems and lead the location(s) to World Class Safety.

  • Be capable of aligning the local team and influencing others to achieve the desired EH&S performance objectives outlined by corporate initiatives, business unit initiatives, and local/site initiatives.

  • Review and analyze data to determine the next opportunity to improve EH&S performance.

  • Bring experience with innovative EH&S compliance and risk reduction techniques via employee engagement, behavior based safety programs, risk assessments, and understanding of implementing, managing, and sustaining EH&S programs in a manufacturing environment.

  • Assist coordinate and manage the standard work for hourly safety coordinators

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • BA/BS degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Engineering or technical discipline or related field.

  • Environmental Health and Safety Certifications (CIH, CSP, CHMM) strongly preferred.

  • MBA or Masters level degree a plus.

  • Seven (7) + years of progressive and related professional health and safety experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.

  • Process Safety Management experience required.

  • Environmental experience is a plus.

Work Conditions:

  • Indoor industrial environment that may experience high temperatures and humidity during the summer months.

  • Hearing Protection is required when out on the production floor due to industrial machinery sound level.

  • Required to wear ASTM F2413-05 safety shoes (Steel or comparable safety shoes worn at all times).

  • Required to wear Bump Cap, Hair or Beard Net, and other Safety gear as required.

  • Hair and or fascial hair grooming maintained to support food safety standards with the use of hair and/or beard nets.

  • Able to stand, bend, stoop or squat, bend or twist, climb stairs and ladders, walk, and constant use of both hands repeatedly for the duration of the shift.

  • Able to push or pull 30-50 lbs.

  • Occasional: sitting, stoop/squat, ladder/steps, climbing, bending/twist.

  • Frequent: kneel/crawl/bend, stair climbing, carrying 0-30 lbs., high, low outreaching, standing, walking

  • Repeated use of: wrist/hand/fingers/shoulder/elbow/hips/ ankles/head/neck.

At Pactiv Evergreen, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $92,700-$154.500.
