PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The Plant Controller provides financial leadership to the manufacturing facility. The Plant Controller is expected to be a dynamic leader on the plant leadership team by contributing to all areas of plant management. The Plant Controller will be responsible for building and creating processes in all major areas of accountability, ensuring the environment complies with the Company's internal control policies and Sarbanes Oxley. This individual will also be responsible for leadership of non-financial plant administrative processes such as warehouse (Raw Materials and Finish Goods).

The position is an important part of the financial talent pipeline and serves as a feeder for larger plants as well as corporate roles (i.e. Mfg. Financial Leader, Segment Analyst, etc.).

Reports to: This position reports directly to the plant leader with strong reporting accountability for driving results to the segment financial leader.

Span of Control: People Leader

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Live the Safety Stand, adhere to the safety responsibilities

  • Practice safe work activities and lead the plant RIR to 0

  • Participate in plant safety programs

  • Monitors and hold self and other accountable for safety

Operations Planning

  • Participates in the development of operational objectives for the plant that are aligned to Corporate and Division Strategic Objectives

  • Leads proactive development of contingency plans, productivity improvement and corrective actions to ensure facility financial results and shareholder value is optimized

Financial and Operational Controls

  • Implement OC internal controls framework at site, using management of change best practices and effectively working with WHQ Teams (internal controls, audit, business manufacturing finance, and Business FP&A)

  • Ensures that there is an effective and efficient system of internal controls including data integrity, asset protection, segregation of duties, budgeting, financial reporting, information systems and adherence to corporate policies and governmental regulations (GAAP, SOX compliance, etc.)

  • Drives a robust representation letter process that provides assurance and visibility to a sound internal control environment.

  • Leads the Continuous Sign-off process to ensure that accountability for internal controls is clear and that processes are documented

  • Oversee accounting for all plant capital projects

  • Managing Accounts Payable process through shared services team, including approving invoices and resolving any issues directly with suppliers

Reporting and Analysis

  • Creates and manages financial planning, budgeting and forecasting processes

  • Prepares and delivers the plant financial forecasts and projects

  • Monitors the plant's monthly closing process in conjunction with the Accounting Team

  • Communicates results effectively to management and non-financial personnel

  • Provides in-depth analysis on variances to plan and forecast

  • Provides risk analysis to contingency planning

Driving Plant Profitability

  • Leads actions in line with achieving targets, mitigating risk and prioritizing resource needs

  • Leads proactive development of contingency plans, productivity improvement and corrective actions to ensure facility financial results and shareholder value is optimized.

  • Provides insightful and competitive analytics that anticipate change and drive decision making

  • Provides investment analysis

  • Assists in contract evaluation and negotiation

  • Educates plant personnel on key performance metrics

Cross-functional leadership and team contribution

  • Work across organization boundaries and all levels of the company to achieve plant, division or corporate objectives

  • Supports plant events and leads/participates on teams in plant (Leads TPM Office Pillar, participates on TPM AM, Safety Committee, Emergency Response, Threat Management, Wellness teams, etc.)

  • Shares best practices across division, i.e, process improvements, financial modeling and procedures changes.

  • Aligns teams and resources in order to solve problems and drive results

  • Provides support to team members at plant, segment and corporate level

  • Assist Sourcing in ensuring plant has adequate raw material supply to meet customer demand

  • Support Supply Chain function to align plant priorities with customer demand

Leading and developing talent

  • Creates an environment where talent is developed through effective performance management, talent evaluation systems and utilization or people

  • Acts as a resource to the non-financial leads of the business providing education and training on the key principles of Finance

  • Invests in the growth and development of their direct reports and other identified talent in their organization

  • Ensures succession plans are executed for focus roles

  • Leads non-financial plant administrative processes for sourcing and warehouse (Raw Materials and Finished Goods)

  • Assigns resources and provides support and direction as needed

Leadership for the oversight and accountability of plant security

  • Ensures the delegation and successful completion of site security functions, included but not limited to: Managing/ implementing OC Security Standards, quarterly assessment of security equipment, security capital project management, incident investigation coordination (contact for local authorities, communication with WHQ), talent management of security guards, site contact for security audits and visits, and monitor completion of WHW required training.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or relevant discipline required. MBA, CMA, CPA preferred

  • Five years of experience in a manufacturing operation

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Sage Financial Systems and SAP working experience and knowledge

  • Providing leadership to organizations within manufacturing operation(s) - leading operations planning, savings, forecasting and investment analysis

  • Operating in a range of economics conditions, i.e. expansion, contraction, stable economic conditions - forecasting, scenario planning, risk analysis and contingency development

  • Delivering continuous improvement

  • Participating in the development of strategic plans

  • Negotiating, developing and evaluating customer and supplier contracts

  • Attracting, developing and retaining outstanding talent - growing talent and succession planning

  • Demonstrated high growth in previous experience

  • Strong financial acumen with demonstrated analytical ability accompanied by knowledge of corporate finance and manufacturing costing principles - understands P&L and balance sheet dynamics

  • Demonstrated ability to manage and control costs - effectively develops business bases and enroll leaders at all levels in taking appropriate action
