Orion is currently searching for a Plant Controller to join our growing team!

Job Summary

Manage finance and accounting departments providing information, primarily financial in nature, about all company activities that will assist management, its shareholders and other users in making educated economic decisions about the company's future.


  • Responsible for the safety for all employees under their supervision by conducting safety orientation and training of employees, enforce safe work practices, correct unsafe conditions, prevent lingering unsafe or unhealthful workplace conditions or hazards.

  • Accumulates and consolidates financial data necessary for an accurate accounting of the total business results. Coordinates and prepares financial statements required by division and corporate management. Maintains general accounting functions. Processes accounting data required for the preparation of divisional statements.

  • Manage the office and oversee the activities of the accounts receivable department to ensure the accurate and timely management of all accounts receivable aging components including billings, cash receipts application, etc; funding service management, which includes weekly funding reports and customer service; quarter and year-end payroll closing including federal and state reports; and check statistic management.

  • Oversee all aspects of inventory cycle counts and physical inventories, related reconciliations and corrective actions for loss and age/obsolescence with facility management.

  • Develops and maintains records that value, report, and analyze inventory activity in the most effective manner.

  • Develop and modify accounting procedures to ensure accuracy and timeliness in the month-end close as well as the month-end reconciliation of the balance sheet.

  • Manages and directs the Plant accounting function including overall cash management, accounts receivable, credit and collections, accounts payable, cash disbursement and cost accounting

  • Provide Cost Accounting leadership: develop cost standards for materials and labor, analyze manufacturing operations, equipment availability and utilization, perform month-end cost accounting close, analyze production costs and recommending changes, oversee annual physical inventory

  • Assist R&S on costs and pricing for new items

  • Calculate customer rebates

  • Establish and maintain systems and controls that verify the integrity of all systems, processes and data, and enhance the company's value.

  • Coordinates the timely performance of all accounting personnel to accomplish general accounting objectives such as journal entries and closing books.

  • Complies with corporate accounting requirements to include, but not limited to, meeting scheduled report dates, special requests for financial information, and adherence to corporate accounting practices and policies.

  • Responsible for overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the staff.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university or five to seven years of related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Experience & knowledge in MS Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to calculate figures.

  • Good communication skills.
