The Plant Controller is the Finance Business Partner responsible for assisting and supporting the North American (NAM) Co-Packing & Distribution Operations (Charlotte & Saltillo, MX) team in examining and managing the expenses of the facilities. They should be a highly analytical specialist that reviews costs and reports analysis to management. Their main tasks include creating new product standard costs, analysis of line performance/efficiencies, preparation of the annual budget, cycle count audits, month-end closing procedures, monthly reporting and analysis of spending, variances and absorption, and monitoring of expense and capital project spending to budget. The Plant Controller will work with their business partners to challenge and propose recommendations to improve productivity and enable tactical and strategic decision making process.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Offers a clear holistic and consolidated view of co-packing performance in Charlotte and Saltillo to their stakeholders: from the consolidated analysis of the product allocation impact, to cost of both sites, to a consolidated forecast release and the actual cost consolidated view.

  • Leads the deployment of all financial tools and processes to ensure the consolidation of both sites' analytical information is accurate.

  • Delivers a wide range of business insightful information that supports strategy data driven decision-making on the current business and new projects.

  • Challenges performance and provides recommendations for cost-saving strategies to meet targets and improve performance.

  • Anticipates: Shines the light on issues or/and opportunities (risk and opportunities analysis) to enable timely and effective action plan.

  • Define an action plan to improve the efficiency of financial processes and tools.

  • Team Management: Ensure to define an efficient and under control organization on both sites (clear roles and responsibilities, transparent communication, motivation, team development).

  • Ensure financial deliverables requirements with the support of their team:

  • Yearly Operating plan and forecast report follow up (alignment with all function GSC + Commercial)

  • Month-end closing accruals

  • Monthly Expense and Inventory Reports

  • Audit weekly Cycle Counts and review any variances

  • Fixed Asset Tags

  • Labor Cost weekly invoices for average headcount & invoice charges

  • Production rates assigned for accuracy and reasonable standard cost

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business/relevant field required

  • 7+ years' proven experience as an analyst in supply chain, manufacturing, or finance with experience in a regional scope

  • Excellent analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving abilities

  • Ability to analyze on a micro and macro level

  • Superb communication and presentation skills

  • Aptitude to succeed in a high-paced and results-oriented environment

  • Excellent understanding and ability to learn new Information Systems and MS Excel

  • Proficient in Spanish a plus

Summary The Plant Controller provides financial leadership to the manufacturing and/or distribution facility. The position will be responsible for the direction and review of their facility and will act as a liaison between the manufacturing/distribution facility and the North America Finance team. The Plant Controller will be responsible for maintaining a control environment that complies with the Company's internal control policies and Sarbanes-Oxley. The Plant Controller will be the key support partner for any integration merger and acquisition activity within the business unit. Job Duties * Ensures that there is an effective and efficient system of internal controls including: data integrity, asset protection, segregation of duties, budgeting, financial reporting, information systems and adherence to corporate policies (GAAP, SOX compliance, etc.). * Responsible the financial planning, budgeting and forecasting processes for the facility which consists of weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual forecasts and plans. * Provides in-depth analysis on variances to plan and forecast, effectively communicates results to Business Unit Controller. * Coordinates evaluation of capital projects and approval process. * Performs and monitors the plant's monthly closing process in conjunction with the central accounting functions * Leads / supports actions to achieve productivity targets and business plans, including development of contingency plans, improvement initiatives and corrective actions. * Work with site to develop and report on key performance metrics, including providing education / training as necessary * Coordination and oversight of physical inventories and audit of site. * Communicate results, risks, and business concerns to the Regional Director. * Perform ad hoc analysis as assigned and work with Operations and Location leadership teams. * Perform any other tasks as required by the North America Finance team. Qualifications * Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting or relevant discipline required. * Minimum of 5 years' experience in a finance function, experience in a Sr. Financial Analyst/Finance Manager position and manufacturing location strongly preferred * Strong financial acumen with demonstrated analytical ability accompanied by knowledge of corporate finance and manufacturing costing principles. Understands P&L, balance sheet and cash flow dynamics. * Experience with bills of material, inventory valuation, standard costing, ERP/MRP systems (SAP) and consolidation tools preferred * Excellent skills in the use of Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
