Sonoco, a leading manufacturer of a variety of highly engineered packaging solutions and specialty components, has the following Plant Administrator position available at our Hayward, CA facility. The Plant Administrator is responsible for performing a variety of accounting and human resource functions that may include payroll, bookkeeping and other plant functions as needed for the operation.
Responsibilities may vary including the below:
Prepare all reporting information for accounting, including, monthly closing, accounts payable, payroll, petty cash, plant checking account and inventory
Distribute mail & faxes; Prepare written correspondence
Answer phones/e-mails and direct customers to appropriate areas for assistance.
Maintain records utilizing appropriate site specific computer application programs and filing systems.
Work with customer quality, manufacturing, and purchasing personnel, and Sonoco Account Managers, Manufacturing, Quality personnel on manufacturing, quality, cost purchase order and timing issues.
Manage customer purchase orders, verify accuracy, work issues when discrepancies exist, communicate information to the plant
Obtain customer data and customer prints,
Process invoices, accounts payable and other assigned functions.
Manage the employment, application, and interviewing process for hourly, plant employees. Schedules drug test and ensures the completion of it. Reviews applicant selection data submitted by interviewing managers for compliance with selection criteria. Maintains accurate and up-to-date recruitment and selection documentation.
Communicates promptly to Payroll about any change in personnel status.
Conduct employee orientations. Processes all other paperwork involved in the hiring process. Follow up and ensure appropriate paperwork is on file.
Assist in all employee relations issues; including pre-hiring testing, new hire paperwork.
Monitors employee issues such as time cards, attendance, and vacation schedules.
Files all paperwork, personal leave requests. Answers employee's questions and properly advises them on the correct use of leave. Promptly resolves leave-related issues.
Print, post and mail company invoices, bills of lading, and packing slips- distribute and post as appropriate. Coordinate information for customers.
Communicate with other plant locations regarding a variety of issues, including inter-company transfers and balancing transfers at month end. Process month end reports for Accounting.
Provide appropriate communication to all employees and general office duties to support employee understanding of programs, policies, business objectives, along with supporting positive employee morale. Actively participate in teams at the facility.
Plan and coordinate company functions and meetings. Schedule onsite training as required.
Maintain and replenish office supplies; maintain all office machines such as copier and fax.
Maintaining bulletin boards, coordinating payroll stuffers and new hire kits as needed. Understand and execute company policy and procedures.
Provide clerical support and general office duties
Associates Degree, Bachelor's preferred
Strong organizational skills
HR and office experience highly preferred
