Introduction
The Planning Specialist provides assistance to senior level staff in Planning & Development on: research and analysis, procedural studies, policy implementation, presentation graphics, customer inquiries, and technical planning. This opening is in the Current Planning department and will apply knowledge of Open Meeting Law and administrative support for department boards and commission meetings.
Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited educational institution in Urban Planning, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Geography, or closely related field.
An equivalent combination of education and job related experience that meets the minimum qualifications may be substituted.
Licensing, Certifications, and Other Requirements
Must possess and maintain a valid, unrestricted driver's license with no major citations within the last 39 months prior to start date. The Arizona Department of Motor Vehicles requires that out-of-state driver's licenses must be surrendered within 10 days of relocating to the State of Arizona.
Every person employed by the City of Scottsdale shall reside in the State of Arizona during his or her active employment by the City, regardless of whether the employee is approved to remote work.
Other pertinent licenses and/or certifications may be required of some positions depending on division/department/services assignment.
Essential Functions
Performs duties and responsibilities commensurate with assigned functional area which may include, but are not limited to, any combination of the following:
Establishes electronic and hard copy files of case reports; updates and maintains Community Development System (CDS) database records system.
Prepares and logs case report files, stipulation documents, legal notices, public notice, agendas, ordinances, and general correspondence.
Prepares, assembles, and distributes copies of case reports to City Council, boards and commissions, and senior staff.
Drafts and submits legal notices to newspapers, produces site postings, and ensures postings are completed within required legal time frame.
Schedules, coordinates, attends, and documents board and commission meetings.
Listens and communicates effectively with all those encountered in the course of work.
Reviews documents for clarity, conciseness, accuracy, and completeness.
Operates a motor vehicle to physically post hearing notices at various locations throughout the City.
Work Environment/Physical Demands
Most work is performed in a City office environment.
Travel to/from meetings and various locations.
Work evenings as required to attend public meetings.
