Job Description
Under general supervision, this position performs paraprofessional, technical office and field work involving the collection, analysis, preparation, and illustration of data (e.g land use, housing/economic conditions, population density, public facilities, community services, and related background information needed for zoning, site plan review, and other current planning activities).
Job Responsibilities
1.Reviews cell towers, building permits, sign permits, and other permits for compliance with City codes.
2.Prepare map and list of property owners for legal notification.
3.Data entry, verification, and modification of data files.
4.Prepare reports and maps from various data files.
5.Field survey and data collection from secondary sources for data files/reports.
6.Assign addresses for subdivisions and split properties.
7.Prepare layouts and/or illustrations of proposed developments and design standards.
8.Assist in preparing information materials for meetings and conducting public hearings.
9.Prepare and/or amend development ordinances implementing comprehensive plan including rezoning and annexation.
Responsible for maintenance of department databases, ACCELA work flow/documents, and GIS Layer (zoning districts, proposed plats, tax parcel update, parcel addresses, etc.)
Position requires driving City units.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Minimum Requirements -
1.Requires an Associate's degree in drafting or related field from an accredited college or technical institute. A minimum of two (2) years experience/training in a related field will be considered in lieu of degree.
2.Job requires a current, valid Texas Class C driver's license.
3.Proficient knowledge of Windows, AutoCAD, MapInfo, Arc View, Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and other computing software/tools associated with drafting.
4.Must have the ability to work accurately with detailed planning data and prepare summary reports.
5.Maintains an effective working relationship with citizens, groups, business, and external agencies.
Physical Requirements
1.Works under satisfactory conditions. Occasional exposure to unpleasant environmental conditions and/or hazards. Occasional outside work.
2.Involves sitting and working from place to place, limited to lifting 20 - 30 lbs. occasionally or negligible weights frequently.
Additional Information
1.This is a safety sensitive position subject to random drug and alcohol testing.
2.This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities.
3.Subject to working emergency management activities of Planning department.
4.May include working evening and/or weekend hours.
