Overview

Element has an opportunity for a Planning Engineer is to review and evaluate customer purchase orders against required specifications. Work is to be performed in accordance with established QA procedures in conducting contract review, specification requirements, and communicating requirements to required personnel.

Responsibilities

  • Read, review, and interpret testing specifications based on customer purchase orders requirements

  • Accurately determine testing required based on purchase orders, drawings, dimensional sketches, and other customer provided information

  • Determine if customer's requirements and testing specifications are aligned or a discrepancy exists

  • Immediately notify appropriate personnel of discrepancies to determine how to proceed with the testing, minimizing lost time

  • Effectively communicate via written and verbal instructions to downstream employees performing required work

  • Measure and record sample dimensions

  • Document and record pertinent information in the MRP system

Skills / Qualifications

  • Experience in interpreting testing procedures and requirements

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Applications (Word, Excel)

  • Must be able to use measuring devices such as calipers, micrometers and tape measures

  • Ability to remain calm when faced with mounting pressure related to deadlines and multiple priorities

  • Well developed oral and written communication skills to meet a variety of communication needs

  • Good interpersonal skills that foster open upward and downward communication built on mutual respect

  • Ability to interface with clients, win new work and determine their requirements; helps develops proposals including cost estimates, work plan and terms and conditions

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists

  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions, data and details furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form

This position requires access to export-controlled commodities, technical data, technology, software, and services. U.S. citizenship, U.S. legal permanent resident status, protected person status under 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or U.S. Government export authorization is required. Any offer of employment is contingent upon the employer obtaining the necessary export authorization, including, if required, an export license from the U.S. Department of Commerce's Bureau of Industry and Security, the U.S. Department of State's Office of Defense Trade Controls, or other applicable government agency.
