Wealth Management Consultants play a critical role in supporting Planning and Portfolio Group employees (PPG) by reinforcing and helping develop effective wealth management skills. Wealth Management Consultants influence PPG employees through targeted coaching and development within 5 areas of focus:
Activation and delivery of wealth management content and training Fostering consistency and competency in wealth management knowledge and application Adoption of wealth management tools and technology, including MGP and Salesforce Overseeing badging and skills certification program Successful and consistent support of wealth management initiatives and change management
Wealth Management Consultants (WMCs) primary role is developing PPG employees through coaching and consulting to Schwab's Modern Wealth Management experience. WMCs partner with vice presidents, managing directors and senior team managers to identify vital needs and areas of focus in their markets. Following a consultative process, they determine and implement effective strategies that promote wealth management skill development, enhance client outcomes and accelerate market growth and retention. The WMC collaborates with the business and their peers to ensure a consistent standard of wealth management training, competency and client experience is being maintained. The WMC is passionate about helping PPG employees build their knowledge and skill set by influencing the adoption of critical wealth management competencies and behaviors.
The WMC also works closely with internal partners (SAMS, Schwab Bank, Schwab Trust Company), as well as serving as a key liaison for Schwab's external comprehensive wealth management partners (Cannon).

Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Encouraging the growth and development of front line leaders and professionals, and impacting them to become proficient and effective as they deliver Schwab's wealth management experience.
Collaborating and coordinating with senior team managers to create a customized coaching strategy for each Center supported.
Being a subject matter expert on a broad range of financial planning and wealth management solutions, teaching professionals how to effectively deliver impactful outcomes for clients.
Inspiring professionals to successfully deliver a premier wealth management experience.
Consulting with professionals on effective growth and retention activities.
Conduct and facilitate a high frequency of learning activities including, but not limited to onboarding, training, team meetings, leader meetings, and partner meetings.
Being the key partner and resource to coordinate speakers for, and/or acting as a keynote speaker for a variety of wealth management workshops/events.
The ability to build and sustain exceptional working relationships with Investor Services leadership as well as the many internal specialty partner groups to identify opportunities to support wealth management educational needs.
As a key relationship, the ability to engage in consistent dialogue with PPG leadership to identify opportunities/challenges within the organization.
Providing relevant "field" feedback and insight into all tool, technology, delivery and marketing issues to client experience and management groups.
Being a key change agent in the introduction of new processes, policies, tools and solutions.
What you have
Position requires BA/BS, MBA a plus.
Position requires CFP and CWS highly preferred.
Demonstrated skills in coaching, wealth management delivery, and public speaking.
Typically a minimum of 10 years in the financial services industry with 5+ years' experience in a leadership role.
Demonstrated effectiveness as a coach
Excellent communication skills, including client facing and senior management level presentations
Ability to partner with others to create tangible action plans
Additionally, candidate must possess exceptional written communication, organizational, and time management skills.
Ability to influence others, teach general wealth management competencies and skills and deliver specific tool and technical knowledge.
Strong customer focus, including ability to think in terms of customer experience/perspective.
Strong interpersonal and relationship skills. Ability to establish rapport with and influence Schwab colleagues
Demonstrated ability to communicate and implement a clear, focused learning and development strategy for area/group.
Ability to influence and achieve objectives without direct authority or direct reporting relationships.
The ability to travel (50%) to assigned centers is required.
A strong understanding and grasp of the competitive landscape in the financial services industry and the position that Schwab has within the industry.
Aptitude to engage and manage relationships with third parties (relationship management)
Ability to work in a collaborative team environment with other Wealth Management Consultants
