The Planner will support the Weber Shandwick Strategy Team in excavating human truths from oblique data and turning them into powerful strategy statements that will help people find meaning in brands. He or she will master the use of research including analytic software tools, syndicated databases, and analyst reports for changing consumer and business dynamics to gain a deeper understanding of the human problems that underlie brand business problems. The Junior Planner will also develop hypotheses, insights and strategies, collaborating with senior strategists, to solve these human problems. The candidate must be a whole brain thinker, with excellent writing and collaboration skills. He or she must be comfortable with research and working with incomplete information (yes - you get to make stuff up!) and have a nose for both the culture at large and for business.

Position Description:

  • Work closely with the senior strategy team to support strategic development for key accounts

  • Conduct both primary and secondary, quantitative and qualitative research for existing and potential clients

  • Turn observations into insights

  • Support responses to new business opportunities and RFPs

  • Assist in the development of presentations, client decks and pitches

  • Perform business analysis, data mining, and visual storytelling

  • Actively contribute to client meetings, creative brainstorms and strategy sessions Qualifications:
  • BA or BS in Psychology, English, Sociology, Business or related fields

  • 0-1 years relevant work experience

  • Demonstrated ability to construct an argument supported by evidence

  • An active curiosity about brands and culture

  • Evidence of commercial instinct - how businesses actually work to make money

  • Knowledge of the media landscape and marketing communications industry

  • Able to manage multiple challenging projects for various clients from concept to completion on time and within budget

  • Strong time management, project management and organizational skills

  • Meaningfully contribute to a civil, fast paced and positive energy environment

  • Proactive, self-starter who can work well both independently and as part of a team

He/she will be willing to learn how to merge 3D BIM models with CPM schedules to create visual schedules, integrate lean (pull planning) methodologies with the CPM schedule, and apply innovative techniques for production management using linear schedules and takt time analytics to improve process flows. At various stages of the project, this person will provide technical and analytical input to facilitate re-planning, and workflow sequencing to ensure projects finish within their prescribed timeframe. Responsibilities * Assist Project Managers and Superintendents with planning and developing construction schedules * Work with Project Executives to prepare proposal and preconstruction schedules * Use historical production data to develop activity durations and validate construction progress * Monitor and analyze progress on detailed construction schedules ranging from 2500 to 5000 activities * Update, analyze, and report status weekly at each project site * Reconcile discrepancies from actual vs. planned progress and facilitate an action plan with the project team * Help develop visual schedules as needed * Provide linear schedules as needed to view production sequences * Analyze repetitive workflows to ensure realistic achievable cycle times * Prepare concise monthly schedule narratives * Provide monthly metrics and Key Performance Indicators for executive reports * Ensure quality and excellence applying Suffolk's Standards of Practice Qualifications * Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Construction Management * Experience in preparing CPM schedules for vertical construction projects * Proficient with Oracle Primavera P6 scheduling software. * Capable of managing multiple project schedules in the region. * Willing to obtain a AACE PSP certified certification within 6 months of hire. * Possess Suffolk's Core Values: Passion, Integrity, Hard Work, Professionalism and Caring. * Have excellent computer skills and willing to learn new software applications. * Ability to analyze and synthesize information in a concise manner and to make recommendations on strategies to resolve project issues * Strong oral and written communications skills and the ability to apply appropriate communication techniques to various individuals. * Positive customer service orientation, with both internal and external clients is required. * Strong interpersonal skills are required, demonstrating a consistent commitment and ability to work with diverse work groups and individuals.
