Starting Salary: $70,306.14-$76,937.77 (depending on experience)

About this Position
As Edmond's Long Range Planner, you'll lead the implementation of our community's comprehensive plan and mobility plan. Duties include (but are not limited to) preparing and coordinating various projects; coordinating area/neighborhood plans; selecting and managing consultant teams; and working with other City departments and allied agencies. This position also has supervisory responsibilities for the Associate Planner-Long Range. This position will work from 7:30-5:30 Monday through Thursday, and from 7:30-11:30 on Friday.
Responsibilities
Ensure the city's adopted long-range plans are maintained and kept up to date
Manage complex planning studies and mapping/database projects and programs
Manage complex projects that require the city to hire a consultant team, including preparing the request for proposal, managing the selection process, finalizing contractual agreements, and administering the scope of work
Conduct research and prepare statistical reports on land use and physical, social, & economic issues
Provide professional planning assistance on varied land use projects
Conduct meetings with advisory boards and elected officials
Provide assistance to support the City's mobility plan
Manage the implementation of the city's adopted long-range plans, including the comprehensive plan
Supervise and oversee the work and job duties of Associate Planning staff
Present reports and other findings to staff, the Planning Commission, and City Council
Serve as a liaison to committees
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Planning or a related field
Master's degree preferred
6 years of related experience and/or training
Or equivalent combination of education and experience
3 years of management experience
People and/or project management
AICP Certification preferred
Valid Oklahoma Driver's License and a driving record acceptable to the City's insurance carrier
Preferred Knowledge
Advanced knowledge of the philosophies, principles, practices, & techniques of planning
Well-developed knowledge of one or more planning disciplines, such as urban design, affordable housing, economic development, or land use
Knowledge of principles, methodology, and practices of research and data collection
Knowledge of effective writing techniques
Necessary Skills
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products and ArcGIS
Intermediate knowledge of Cloud-based file management/sharing and Adobe creative suite
Basic knowledge of web-based tools for team coordination and survey creation/distribution tools
Ability to meet the required physical standards for this position
Ability to pass extensive background process and pre-employment drug and audio screenings
