Position Overview

Responsible for developing financial plans that deliver corporate objectives. Accountable for development and implementation of strategic vision to maximize profitability both in-season and pre-season - inclusive of Sales, Gross Margin, and Turn. Align Merchandise Assortment strategy with Financial Goals. Drive and/or contribute projects resulting in improved departmental systems and efficiencies.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Financial Planning

  • Initiate and implement financial strategies by utilizing historical performance, current trend analysis, geographical/attribute based store research and cross-functional feedback

  • Utilize the Enterprise Planning system to plan sales, margin, and inventory components for pre and in season; complete ownership of Open to Buy

  • Initiate financial strategies in Business Reviews, Monthly Financial Review, and Assortment Strategy Meetings

  • Analyze, conclude, and recommend strategies to drive business and manage inventories

  • Influence and persuade audience through strong presentations to gain consensus

  • Direct and manage team to ensure departmental strategies align to short and long term objectives

  • Accountable for development of in-season pricing and promotion strategies

Assortment Planning

  • Quantify and ensure Assortment supports financial goals for Key Items and Fashion product

  • Collaborate with buyer to work through assortment gaps/challenges

  • Manage / oversight style level planning for both fashion and basic store clustering and attribute analysis

Inventory Management

  • Pre & In-season planning and management of inventory by delivery/selling season

  • Ensure product flow maintains proper in-stock levels

  • Oversee Associate Planner to ensure optimal sizing in both initial and replenishment receipts

  • Accountable for risk and opportunity associated with receipt management and reconciliation

Talent Management

  • Coach and develop planning and allocation team to develop and execute strategies that the business

  • Manage and support the career development of the associate planning and allocation team by identifying and developing bench strength

  • Assess and leverage planning and allocation team's strengths and address development needs

  • Provide feedback and direction to planning and allocation team to foster skill development and performance improvement

  • Partner with Director to solicit decision support when needed

  • Recognize and reward quality performance and teamwork. Celebrate success

  • Lead by example, engage and inspire team

Process Leadership

  • Partner closely with team leaders to align cross-functional processes and objectives

  • Coordinate efforts of direct reports to ensure consistency of planning practices

  • Develop and maintain cross-divisional peer relationships to share best practices

  • Identify and communicate opportunities where management support is needed on initiatives and strategies

  • Cultivate a collaborative, creative, results-oriented work environment

  • Assume leadership role in change management process

  • Advocate for and integrate adoption of new technologies

Experience, Skills & Knowledge

Education

  • Bachelor's (B.A. or B.S.)

Experience

  • 5+ years of Planning experience

  • Proficient in retail math and cost accounting

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Demonstrates strong listening, written and communication skills

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously

  • Highly organized, detail-oriented and accurate

Position Overview Support sales and profitability of the Polo Factory Stores – North America (PFS-NA) product line through contribution to Buyer's strategy and assortment development. Provide insight regarding general sales analysis, marketplace trends, and customer's needs, wants, and expectations. Support department(s) through the management of all operational functions within the product life cycle and the buy process.
