What You'll Do:

Ohio Department of Public Safety

  • Director's Office/Facility Management

Report In Location: 1970 W. Broad Street, Columbus, Ohio 43223

Work Hours: 8:00 a.m.

  • 5:00 p.m.

(CURRENTLY HYBRID ELIGIBLE) Will report into office 3 days a week and telework 2 days a week (May be subject to change)

Act as project coordinator &/or principal liaison to assist in planning, coordinating, monitoring, &/or evaluating of facility management construction projects within the Ohio Department of Public Safety (ODPS):

  • Assist in preparation of memoranda, professional services contracts, construction contracts, escrow agreements, addenda agreements & other legal instruments for the ODPS;

  • Prepare &/or maintain office files of contractual correspondence & financial status & required documentation &/or information for Controlling Board sub-missions (e.g., Waivers of Competitive selection, transfers, releases, etc.);

  • Provide technical assistance & respond to inquiries for the department when working with customers, vendors, OSHP, BMV, other regulatory Departments or Divisions, OFCC, State Fire Marshall, EEO & Industrial Relations;

  • Meet with agency personnel to determine space & special facility's needs; Identify project timelines & ensure scheduled time frames are met;

  • Prepare bid tabulation worksheets (i.e., collaborate with the designer &/or architect assisting in bid preparation & bid tabulation at bid opening); Read & interpret specifications, drawings & blueprints;

  • Track funds available &/or expenditures for construction projects & maintenance activity utilizing OAKS, Microsoft Excel, Facility Management Access database, etc.; Recommend actions pertaining to cost overruns, release of funds, fund transfers &/or related actions; Process Purchase Orders & encumber funds;

  • Ensure Ohio Revised Code (ORC) compliance for publicly advertised contract submissions to the Attorney General's Office;

  • Ensure procurement compliance & evaluate proposals to ensure adherence of project specifications to regulations;

  • Administer special projects, prepare required reports regarding project status, funding, real estate, construction &/or other topics;

  • Review plans for program facilities & does onsite reviews of existing & pro-posed facilities to recommend changes;

  • Monitor & evaluate project activities

  • Conduct &/or arrange training for program Planners;

  • Interview stakeholders to determine needs & expectations & maintains regular contact with stakeholders.

  • Communicate verbally &/or in writing regarding project specifications & directives;

  • Coordinate involved parties to review progress & status of facility remodeling, renovation or construction;

  • Inspect construction projects, recommend changes in specifications & ensure compliance with building codes;

  • Provide assistance & support to the Planner Supervisor;

  • Perform other related duties as assigned &/or as needed.

Completion of undergraduate core program or 24 mos. exp. in assigned program area (e.g., engineering, landscape architecture, rehabilitation, mental health technology, transportation, physical, behavioral & social science, urban or community planning, natural resources, business or public administration); 9 mos. trg. or 9 mos. exp. in operational, mathematical, analytical or statistical research methods used in conducting & documenting research studies; 1 course or 3 mos. exp. in public relations; 1 course or 3 mos. exp. in budgeting; 1 course or 3 mos. exp. in technical writing or business communication.

  • Or 6 mos. exp. as Planner 2, 85312, in assigned program area.

  • Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above.
