Description of Job

This announcement will remain open until filled.

This position independently performs a range of tasks related to work involved in the fabrication, assembly, installation, maintenance and repair of gas, steam, air, refrigeration, or plumbing fixtures, equipment, pipes, fittings, and controls.

A summary of the duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:

Pipe and Plumbing Work

• Independently performs repairs, modifications and installation of piping. This includes fabricating, assembling, maintaining and repairing of gas, steam, air, refrigeration, fire protection and/or plumbing systems. Responds to verbal and/or written work requests to address various problems with plumbing, steam and piping components and systems.

Preventative Maintenance

• This position performs preventative maintenance on HVAC and plumbing equipment such as lubricating bearings, servicing pumps, shafts and other building equipment. Changes filters, belts, and other components per instruction by supervisor while ensuring that all equipment and associated controls are functioning properly

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Education and Experience:

At least three years of experience in Commercial Pipe and Plumbing Work and Preventative Maintenance OR appropriate education or successful completion of a formalized apprenticeship program will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.

The exceptional candidate will possess the proven ability or accomplishment in the following preferred qualifications:

• Previous State Service related to the work assigned to the position

• At least five years of experience in Commercial Pipe and Plumbing Work and Preventative Maintenance

• Current backflow testing certification

• Experience with steam heating piping systems

• Journeymen Level Plumbing License or higher

Conditions of Employment:

• A pre-employment criminal background check will be conducted as part of the selection process.

• Travel as needed

• Shift Work: Must be able to work 1st, 2nd or 3rd shift
