STV currently has an opening in our Pittsburgh, PA office for a Pipeline Engineer in our Energy division. Key responsibilities will include working under the direction of Project Managers in the development of pipeline routes, perform design calculations and develop pipeline alignments with CAD designers. Communicate and coordinate the acquisition of road, railroad, and water crossing permits. Prepare material specifications for pipe, valves, fittings and fabricated assemblies. Develop construction specifications.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree in Civil or other Engineering required.

  • Knowledgeable of US and Industry Codes and Standards such as DOT 192 and 195; ASME B31.4; API Recommended Practices 1104, 1117, 1102; API 5L

  • Experience with selecting pipeline routes, identifying utility conflicts, available construction work space

  • Able to perform pipe sizing calculations; HDD stress calculations

  • Must have experience developing pipeline route maps and alignment drawings, plan/profile construction and permit drawings. Prepare written specifications for support services and construction

  • Able to interface with other disciplines such as ROW, environmental, and clients

  • Possess good written and verbal communication skills

The selected candidate should be eligible for employment in the U.S. and possess a valid driver's license, and be prepared to pass periodic drug screening and a background check. Travel and field work will be required.

The candidate should have experience mentoring and delegating to more junior staff, which may or may not have engineering background. The candidate may be requested to support other projects/programs that are also managed and supported within this department and the Pittsburgh office. Day-to-day activities will be directed by the Director of Appalachian Basin Oil and Gas Services. Essential duties and responsibilities include the following: * Provide support to on-going and new projects related to site design/layout and development for commercial projects, with focus on the Oil and Gas industry, for drilling sites and linear projects. * Prepare and submit various types of permit applications associated with environmental impacts and water management located in PA, OH, and WV. * Identify and apply appropriate storm control Best Management Practices (BMP) for both construction and post-construction phases of a project. * Interpret current and future state and federal promulgated regulations for oil and gas projects and properly apply to design and environmental permitting activities. * Plan, schedule, conduct and coordinate detailed phases of technical work in a part of a major project or in a total project of complex scope. * Interface with Client Project Managers, government regulators, other contractors and other representatives. Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science or related field is required. Minimum of twenty (20) years of experience is required in areas related to energy development, such as wetland identification and delineation, NEPA documentation, 404/401 Permitting, threatened and endangered species coordination and Phase I ESA's. Preference will be given to experience directly related to the Oil and Gas Industry in particular that associated with the Marcellus and Utica Plays. Experience in interfacing with state and local agencies as well as community boards for project planning is beneficial. Candidates must be able to perform other project tasks involving site investigation, evaluation of permitting requirements, evaluation of environmental conditions, and determination. Candidates must possess knowledge to successfully perform site development activities including identifying and completing permitting requirements and interfacing with state and local agencies and utility companies to determine easements, access limitations, and utility requirements and availability. Computer skills must include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Google Earth. Experience with hydrologic and hydraulic programs such as TR-55 and HEC-RAS and working knowledge of other design programs (CAD and GIS) are required. Candidates must be self-motivated, creative and have strong organizational, inter-personal communication, writing and presentation skills.
