HelpDuties Summary

You will serve as a PIPEFITTER (TEMP SERVICES) SUPERVISOR I in the Temporary Service Branch of the Pipefitter Shop located in the Production Resource Department of PSNS and IMF. You will be responsible for planning the use of subordinate workers, equipment, facilities, materials, and tools to accomplish work assignments for both nuclear and non-nuclear work.

Announcement covers both Temporary Not to Exceed One Year and Permanent appointments that will be determined with each request.

Responsibilities

  • You will supervise employees installing, maintaining, removing, and repairing various primary hotel and industrial support services, systems, recirculating setups, layouts, effluent discharge and collection systems, control devices and components.

  • You will recommend formal and informal training of work crew to develop and maintain skills.

  • You will participate in various management programs such as beneficial suggestions, quality assurance, and cost reduction.

  • Must have the ability to plan and execute layout of Temporary Services on piers and drydocks of ships or submarine during overhaul, refueling/defueling or inactivation/recycle.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain qualifications as nuclear worker.

  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.

  • Positions that are supervisory/managerial require that first time supervisors/managers complete a one-year trial/probationary period if not previously completed in a competitive or other excepted service position.

  • Performance of duties may include working from uncomfortable and cramped positions which involves lifting, turning, pulling, pushing, standing, crouching, stooping, kneeling, bending, sitting, climbing and reaching.

  • Work may occur in areas where certain potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present. These agents may include, but are not limited to: fumes, dust, noise, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation, chemicals, etc.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final Secret security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.

  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
