Primary Purpose: Lay-out, fabricate, assemble, install, and maintain pipe, piping systems, wastewater systems, storm drain, and other fixtures and equipment, on the basis of knowledge of system operation and study of building plans or working drawings.

Typical Duties: Selects type and size of pipe and related materials according to job specifications.

Inspects worksite to determine the presence of obstructions, and to ensure no safety issues exist that would cause structural weakness in the trench or work area. Plans sequence of installation to avoid obstructions and activities of other construction workers. Cuts pipe, using a hacksaw, pipe cutters, hammer and chisel, cutting torch, and pipe cutting machine.

Threads pipe using the threading machine. Bends pipe by hand or with the pipe-bending machine. Assembles and installs a variety of metal and nonmetal pipe and pipe fittings, including those made of brass, copper, lead, glass, and plastic.

Joins piping by means of threaded, calked, wiped, soldered, brazed, fused, or cemented joints. Secures pipes to structure with clamps, brackets, and hangers, using hand tools. Tests the piping system for leaks by increasing pressure in pipes and observing gauges attached to pipes for indication of leaks.

workers should be able to work within precise standards of accuracy; rate information using standards which can be measured or checked; compare and see differences in the size, shape, and form of lines, figures, and objects; look at flat drawings or pictures and understand how they would look as solid objects; and follow oral and written directions, plans, and blueprints.

Physically: workers must be able to coordinate the movements eyes, hands, and fingers; use hands, arms, and fingers fully; climb and maintain balance on ladders and scaffolding; stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, or work at heights as required and lift and carry objects weighing up to 100 pounds and occasionally more.

Essential Responsibilities * Contribute to a culture and environment focused daily on employee safety and a safe work environment. Assume responsibility for immediately addressing safety concerns. * Verifies the quantity and description of materials received by checking materials against the work order. * Operation of machinery such as, but not limited to: pipe benders, threaders, band saws, drill press, grinders, etc. * Processes order in accordance with specifications, which may include the bending of conduit. threading of pipe, cutting various metals, and/or grinding of materials. * Produce quality, finished products to the customers specification * Ensures safety operating procedures are followed throughout projects. * Assembles and fills orders to be shipped to customers or other divisions. * Packs each order in accordance with Rexel best practices * Stages incoming materials in accordance with production schedule * Measures, cuts, materials. * Verifies quantities and items being shipped against the work order. * Other duties as assigned. Skills, Knowledge, and Education Required * High school diploma or GED preferred. * Must have a valid driver's license. * General knowledge of electrical products. * Ability to effectively communicate with co-workers to aid in satisfying customer requirements. * Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations in order to accurately complete job tasks. * Ability to organize and prioritize job tasks and requirements. * Able to meet deadlines. * Excellent attendance record required. * Able to work overtime as needed.
