Croda Incotec is seekig a Pilot Plant Team Leader for our Urbandale, Iowas site. The Pilot Plant Team Leader will have full responsibility for Pollinator Plus and Encrustment activities at the Urbandale Site, and, including site SHE, operations, maintenance, capital planning and execution, supply planning, purchasing and labor management. Ensure completion of scale up testing requests to support R&D and Commercial technology launch support. Perform all duties within the company's safety, health and environmental regulations. All other duties as assigned by management.
Technology Scale Up 40%
Management/supervision of Pollinator Plus activities with support from R&D staff to select proper treatment protocols.
Management/supervision of seed Encrustment activities using rotary coating equipment with supporting equipment.
Ensure site strategy supports overall operations and business strategy to achieve financial goals of INCOTEC/ Croda Inc.
Deliver efficient, high quality plant operation supporting of R&D pre-commercial scale up and business requirements. Meet complex work schedule to ensure business inventory targets are met and on-time delivery to customers is > 95%
Ensure cost effective operation balancing lowest unit cost with other key business success criteria. Drive continuous improvement tools through site teams
Achieve continuous reduction in utility usage per unit of activity. (steam/water/waste water/air/nitrogen)
Drive maintenance activities and ensure they are sufficient to meet operational requirements.
Drive capital program to support site strategy
Take direction from Sales and R&D departments to achieve technology scale up and commercial needs for testing, data capture, and product performance characterizations
Environmental, Health and Safety 20%
Manage all site environmental permits, health and safety regulations to comply with regulatory agencies.
Assure site is following corporate and site-specific policies and rules.
Continuous improvement of systems to achieve an injury free workplace and a high standard of housekeeping and organization.
Manage safety programs and completing quarterly SHE reports and investigating work related incidents.
Administrative Duties 30%
People management and development goals and objectives, performance management, development reviews
Ensure scale up equipment meets testing and data capture requirements to support R&D and Commercial studies
Prepares annual operations and cap-x budgets in coordination with R&D and Commercial Departments
Development of personnel requests and drive recruitment of talented people to support business
Proactively drive site culture to achieve safe and efficient performance
Issuing purchase orders for raw materials and operating supplies
Primary contact as facility manager
Manage facility maintenance and primary contact with Landlord (if applicable)
Bachelor's degree in related field or Associate's Degree with equivalent years' experience.
At least 3 years of experience in field or related field
Must have excellent communication skills; both verbal and written.
Strong leadership and interpersonal skills; ability to get along with many personality types.
Management control over many diverse projects, people, and facilities
Ability to work under time constraints and ever-changing list of prioritie
Willing and able to travel inside and outside the US as necessary
Able to walk, stand and sit for a minimum of 8 hours per day.
Required to move throughout production areas on uneven surfaces, climb stairs and ladders.
Able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
