POSITION SUMMARY:

The RN Clinical Team Leader provides patient centered, specialized, evidence based nursing care across the continuum through an interprofessional approach to treatment, research, education and advocacy. Contributes to the goals of the department by being accountable for the delivery of compassionate and safe care within the scope of practice as defined by the Florida Board of Nursing and JHACH policy.

Through collaborative practice with all members of the care team, is responsible for patient outcomes which meet the high quality of care provided by JHACH. The professional practice of nursing at JHACH involves the promotion of a culture of innovation and a commitment to academic growth and professional development.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
1.Utilizes the nursing process, evidence based practice and unit specific competences to assesses the physical condition and nursing needs of patients and develop a plan of care in a collaborative practice with the interprofessional team
2.Monitors compliance with standards of care by observation, verbal reports, audits and written documentation, provides feedback to staff, educators, managers and senior director of nursing
3.Actively participates in multidisciplinary rounds each day and ensures other team members are active participants
4.Plans for the total care needs of the patient in collaboration with the inter-professional team to provide the highest quality of care and clinical outcomes
5.Demonstrates clinical expertise in provision of care in the clinical specialty of assigned unit with the ability to perform all functions of the professional clinical nurse (RN) that are age appropriate and culturally specific in order to maintain balance within the unit
6.Provides consultation and maintains positive relationships with physicians and other inter-professional team members, collaborating to problem solve and improve patient care
7.Collaborates on unit schedules, monitors staffing levels each shift and provides input to the Unit Manager and Director in budget preparation/monitoring and in the identification of workload variability to predict and plan for appropriate staffing to enhance productivity/efficiency while maintaining quality care
8.Identifies ways to improve the patient's experience, streamline care processes and lower costs while improving patient, family and staff satisfaction
9.Maintains a work environment that is highly supportive of a professional role to retain expert nurses
10.Demonstrates the ability to reduce as well as manage risks to reduce and or prevent crises
11.Performs skillfully in life threatening emergencies including matching demands and resources during crises situations

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Current Florida RN Licensure

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing

  • 3 years of experience in an acute care setting

  • Certification within one year in area of specialty

The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital is a 28 bed unit with nursing care provided to critically ill or injured children. A multidisciplinary team provides comprehensive care to address the patient's needs. Patients range in age from neonate to young adult. Patients are admitted to the PICU for a broad range of diagnoses and are admitted for many areas, including referring institutions.
