OVERVIEW:

Find your future at Fastenal! Our distribution center is hiring energetic, team oriented individuals to work in our fast pace warehouse!

Working as Full-time Picking Assistant Manager, you will assist in managing the Picking department. After a branch places an order, the Picking department is responsible for picking the requested quantity, packing the order, printing a label with a routing number and sending the product to the Sortation department. You will motivate and provide leadership to team members to ensure day-to-day operations are completed safely, accurately, efficiently and on time.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

o Motivating and leading team members

o Coordinating employees, including scheduling, hiring and exiting

o Ensuring day-to-day operations are completed

o Communicating with employees and branches

o Picking orders and packing product

o Operating computer programs, scanners and printers to label product

o Using a scale for weighing product

o Maintain the cleanliness/organization of work area

o Complying with health, safety and sustainability rules and expectations

o Participating in activities and programs that help the company achieve health, safety and sustainability objectives

o Learning, passing, and practicing various environmental health and safety trainings

REQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

The following skills and qualifications are required for this position:

o Possess prior leadership or management work experience in warehouse, distribution, operations or industrial sales

o Proficient written and oral communication skills

o Proficient using Microsoft Office Suite

o Learn and perform multiple tasks in a fast paced environment

o Highly motivated, self directed and customer service oriented

o Lead and motivate a team of employees

o Work independently as well as in a team environment

o Exhibit strong problem solving, deductive reasoning and decision making skills

o Demonstrate strong organization, planning and prioritizing abilities

o Demonstrate strong math aptitude, attention to detail and sense of urgency

o Willingness to work a flexible schedule/extra time as needed

o Demonstrate our core values of ambition, innovation, integrity and teamwork

o Lift, slide, carry and lower packages that typically weigh 25lbs-50lbs and may weigh up to 100lbs

o Pass the required drug screen (applicable in the US, Puerto Rico and Guam ONLY)

PREFERRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

o Prior experience operating a forklift

o Possess at least 1 year of Fastenal or related work experience

o Prior leadership experience and product knowledge
