The primary purpose of this position is to perform concurrent and retrospective chart reviews to identify issues of concern which are forwarded to the appropriate Medical Staff Performance Improvement Committees, Risk Management and/or Administration. The PI Coordinator represents the Performance Improvement Department at all Departmental Medical Staff PI Committees and other Performance Improvement committee meetings, as appropriate.

Graduate of an accredited Nursing School or College; current New York State R.N. License required, BSN Bachelor of Science in Nursinor Health preferred. Minimum 3-5 years relevant clinical medical-surgical or critical care experience.

Two to three years Utilization/Care Management or Performance Improvement, experience preferred in an acute hospital or related managed care setting.

Required to pursue ongoing education, certification and self development to remain current with industry standards and business objectives related to Performance Improvement as appropriate.

Position Summary: Primary responsibilities include preparing departmental reports as they relate to Performance Improvement activities. Assistance with Joint Commission data preparation, Registries and LIHN resource utilization reporting. Review of data to assure accuracy and to analyze trends. Develop Dynamic sheets for Hospital Departments. Position Responsibilities: * Produce and distribute reports (Department, Hospital, CHS) as needed. * Collect data from multiple platforms, individuals, and departments to include PICIS, MIDAS and STAR applications and includes queries, analysis and report variance data to LIHN committee members; assist with the data collection for hospital surveys, Leap Frog, NYS Cath, Q-HIP; and generate credentialing documentation for review on a request basis. * Set up computer for web conferences for PI Department. * Design, implement, maintain and document Excel applications for the Performance Improvement Department and External Departments. * Design Power Point Presentations for the Performance Improvement Department and External Departments. * Design Posters, Brochures for Staff Education * Assist department with some desktop support such as creating shortcuts for applications and other activities. * Develop quarterly reports for the Medical Executive Committees (MEC). * Develop and coordinate data collection for various hospital scorecards. * Assist in The Joint Commission readiness activities including data tracer preparation. * Validate data that is reported to New York State (CSRS, PCI) and other registries (STS, ACC NCDR ICD Registry). * Download and distribute reports from internet websites such as Press Ganey, QNET, and Health Stream. * Maintain documentation procedure on producing reports. * Develop simple access reports and queries. * Actively participate in Hospital performance improvement and patient safety initiatives such as Hospital PI Committees, Support Services PI Committee, PI Teams and CRM. Position Requirements: * Bachelors Degree in Business, Computer Science or related field required. Master's Degree in Business or Healthcare Administration preferred. * 2 years experience in healthcare setting required with experience in data analysis and reporting. * Sound knowledge and skill in the use of computers and software for Windows, MS office and statistical programs required. * Demonstrate ability to work in minimal Supervision, Guidance, and direction. Excellent and effective verbal and written communication skills in addition to being highly organized.
