Position overview:

The Personalized Lifestyle Medicine Center by Metagenics is seeking a Nurse Practitioner who is highly motivated, compassionate, committed, healthy, and has a passion for alternative medicine approaches in patient care. Our center's focus was primarily research based in the past. We have recently expanded our services to include patient care utilizing a Functional Medicine approach. We are excited to share that we are an insurance based center; having contracts with most of the major insurance companies. We have an opportunity in our new location opening soon, in Aliso Viejo, CA as well as our Gig Harbor, WA location. We are eager to find the right candidates to support us in bringing our innovative ideas and patient care model to fruition.

In this role, you will promote and maintain health by providing medical services under the supervision of a physician. You will contribute to a physician's efficiency by identifying short-term and long-range patient care issues that must be addressed. The PA-C/NP is tasked with addressing each patient's needs based on prescribing MD/DO recommendations. This includes engaging patient interactive skills coupled with the ability to quickly establish trust, rapport and relationship building (e.g. empathic listener, partner in problem solving) for positive patient outcomes in achieving their immediate and long-term health goals. Responsibilities

What you'll do:

  • Assesses patient health by interviewing patients and performing physical examination (including obtaining, updating, and studying medical histories).

  • Determines abnormal conditions by administering or ordering diagnostic test, such as X-rays and laboratory studies and by interpreting test results.

  • Recommend/Prescribe options and courses of action for patient care.

  • Implement physician directives.

  • Document patient care services by charting in patient and department records.

  • Perform therapeutic procedures by administering injections and immunizations, suturing, and managing wounds and infections.

  • Instructs and counsels patients by providing normal growth and development information and providing counseling on emotional problems of daily living.

  • Promote wellness and health maintenance.

  • Provide continuity of care by developing and implementing patient-management plans.

  • Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.

  • Protect patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.

  • Complies with federal, state, and local legal and professional requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; and enforcing adherence to requirements and advising management on needed actions.

  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.

  • Develop health care team staff by providing information, educational opportunities, and experimental growth opportunities.

  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

  • 2-3 Years of working experience with 1 year minimum in Integrative/Functional Medicine

  • IFM Certified Practitioner preferred

Physical requirements/working conditions:

  • Stands and walks more than half of each day

  • Stands and walks to other stations and departments throughout the day

  • Uses hands and fingers to operate computers and office equipment most of the day

  • May stoop or crouch to access files or storage

  • Requires clear vision at 20 inches or less with or without corrective lenses

  • Hearing and speech within normal ranges and sufficient for clear communication face to face and especially via the telephone

  • Lifts up to 20 pounds regularly; lifts 30 pounds occasionally

  • May assist patients with sitting, standing and walking to and from exam rooms
