Position Summary:
Definition- The physician assistant described here is a graduate of a Certified PA program, board certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants, Licensed by the State of Tennessee and registered with the state Board of Pharmacy.
Responsibilities outlined below are specific to Endovascular and VASCULAR SURGERY outreach program sites and the UTMC main campus.
HOSPITAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
First Assist in surgery with open vascular and endovascular procedures
Rounding on hospital patients including writing pertinent progress notes and orders
H&Ps and consults on hospital and transfer patients
Pre-op patient education concerning surgery and expected outcomes
Discharge summaries
Discharge planning with patient education as to medications, activity and wound care
Central line placement
On call duties nights
Compliant with all regulatory standards such as TJC, OSHA, CMS, State of TN, etc.
Participation in registries, performance improvement and quality projects as requested
OUTPATIENT CLINIC RESPONSIBITIES
Performing H&Ps on new patients
Coordination of needed diagnostic evaluation
Follow-up and post-operative patient evaluation and treatment
Writing hospital orders for planned admissions
Removal of tunneled catheters
Wound debridement, suture removal and dressing changes
Dictating letters to referring physicians concerning patient progress
Position Qualification:
Board Certified Physician Assistant with license in State of Tennessee. Preferably vascular experience.
