  • Demonstrates the ability to obtain information and interpret information in terms of the

patient's needs.

  • Demonstrates appropriate knowledge of growth and development.

  • Demonstrates an understanding of the range of treatment needed by these patients.

According to established protocols, conducts clinical assessment of the patients

health care status and needs and provides patient care to facilitate expected patient

outcomes. Triages emergency walk in patients. Assesses patients for pre-operative

clearance.

  • Elicits and records complete medical history of the patient in medical record for

signature by physician.

  • Performs routine physical examinations.

  • Compiles and evaluates medical histories and physical findings.

  • Establishes diagnoses and makes treatment recommendations to be reviewed by physician.

  • Displays compassion and understanding with patients consistent with Standard of Excellence

principles. Responds appropriately to patient questions.

  • Prescribes and initiates diagnostic tests and procedures such as laboratory tests and

radiologic procedures. Obtains physician's signature within twenty-four hours.

  • Checks off all CPT codes as procedures are completed (lab, injections, treatments,

x-rays).

  • Provides counseling and education to patients in order to enhance patient care.

  • Discusses diagnosis and treatment with patient and family.

  • Prepares and provides patient and family with written instructions.

  • Writes prescriptions and requests for diagnostic studies as required. Obtains physician's

signature for requests.

  • Provides family counseling and counsels patients as to preventive care.

Documents care provided in order to support the continuity of patient care and

optimum patient outcomes.

  • Writes reports, patient histories and physicals.

  • Completes patient charts.

  • Updates patient charts with additional test results, modification or medications or

treatment.

  • Assists in call backs to follow up on lab and diagnostic test reports.

  • Performs other duties within job scope as requested.

  • Participates in regular staff activities and staff responsibilities including teaching and

attendance at required meetings.

  • Follows HCMG QA & I/UR guidelines; shows and expresses concern for quality performance and

exercises initiative to suggest change/improvement within the scope of responsibility.

  • Performs waived and/or moderate-complexity laboratory procedures as needed and according

to proper protocol.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Certification from the National Commission of Certification of Physician is required.

  • Minimum of two (2) years of related clinical experience is required.

  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments is necessary.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are necessary.

Licensure:

  • Current licensure as a Physician Assistant in the State of Florida.

  • Current CPR is required.

Working Conditions and Physical

Requirements:
  • Works in a clean, well-lighted and well ventilated area. Standing, walking, bending, most of the day. Constant patient contact. Must adhere to OSHA guidelines at all times.

VIEW JOBS 9/13/2019 12:00:00 AM 2019-12-12T00:00 Position Purpose Job Description Details: Under the direction of the Orthopedic Institute physician, this is a per diem Athletic training position with clinical responsibilities to one or more orthopedic physicians. This position will require that the incumbent possesses the clinical evaluation and educational skills expected of an athletic trainer for Holy Cross Hospital. Additionally, the incumbent will provide athletic training services for the Orthopedic Institute under the direction of a designated orthopedic physician. Duties Include: * Performance of a thorough medical history on each patient, including a thorough history of the injury or condition, primary complaint, pain level assessment, past medical history, review of medications and allergies, and how quality of life is affected. * Performance of an appropriate physical examination on each patient seen, including; range of motion testing, strength testing, sensation testing, palpation, functional testing, ligamentous testing, and special tests as needed * Order and interpret diagnostic studies under the direction of a physician, including; radiographs, MRIs, EMG studies, CT scans, diagnostic ultrasounds, rehabilitation referrals, and physician referrals * Performance of educational responsibilities in specific to the needs of each individual patient, including; exercise instruction and demonstration and answering patient questions in regards to the treatment plan, rehabilitation and future care * Prepare and assist the physician with injection procedures done in the office * Books and schedules patient surgeries and hospital admissions. * Handles general office duties and any other tasks assigned by the physicians or Practice Manager Job Requirements: Education: * Bachelors Degree in Athletic Training, Physical Education, or Exercise Science or health related profession required. Masters Degree preferred. * Current CPR/AED from American Heart Association certification required. Experience & Skills: * Coordination of patient and/or athlete care services with other health care providers is essential. * Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the use of relevant medical terminology, are essential. Licensure/Certification: * Nationally certified athletic trainer (ATC) and Florida state licensure required.
