Job Summary and Qualifications

The Associate Chief Medical Officer (ACMO) for Physician Services is a key member of the CSG executive team. The ACMO will report to the Clinical Services Group Physician Services CMO and supervise a team of highly qualified professionals, who are subject matter experts in the areas of informatics, electronic health records, health data, quality and risk. The ACMO is responsible for the strategic design, implementation, support and optimization of the Health Information Technology platform for our ambulatory enterprise and involved in provider quality initiatives and outcomes. The ACMO will provide leadership, guidance, support, and coaching and help remove barriers to success and deliver excellence in these areas. The position will provide specialized focus to identify and develop other physician leaders to advance the HCA Healthcare clinical agenda and gain trust and collaboration from employed physicians across the Physicians Services platform.

The ACMO manages the AVPs over the Ambulatory Electronic Health Record Team, the CMIO of Urgent Care and the Director of Hospital Based Clinic EHRs while collaborating with the Ambulatory Clinical Quality AVPs, AVP Quality Enterprise Solutions, AVP Ambulatory Pharmacy, Corporate AVP of Payer Initiatives and their teams to ensure the provision of exceptionally effective risk management functions, environment of care management and ensuring clinics the support and services needed to meet program objectives.

Success in this position is measured by implementation and optimization of health information systems, continuous improvement in quality metrics and outcomes, physician oversight of delegated credentialing and collaborative and productive relationships with all HCA lines of business and executives including but not limited to ITG, CT&I, PCA, hospital division and group operations, service-lines, and all CSG executives.

What you will do in this role:

  • Lead and guide the teams to achieve strategic and tactical goals in informatics, data, quality, risk, regulatory, value-based care and health data creation and aggregation

  • Provides direct leadership and day to day management of the Implementations, Clinical Informatics and Optimization teams within PSG.

  • Drives increased physician use of information and tools to support integrated care delivery. Co-leads the evaluation of products of services having major clinical impact including the selection and implementation of clinical applications of information systems.

  • Aligns the HIT strategy with Physician Services' operational goals and constraints through strategic partnerships with operations and finance

  • Demonstrates and articulates a thorough understanding of the social, political, and economic influences affecting healthcare programs and services, and develops and drives strategies based on these influences.

  • Coordinates with and participates in HCA Healthcare Quality and Patient Safety leadership to align resources and provide input in establishing priorities.

  • Supports the mission, vision, and values of CSG and HCA Healthcare and demonstrates a passion for quality and excellent customer service at all times.

  • Serves as a physician consultant for operational issues related to informatics, data, quality, provider outcomes, delegated credentialing and new medical technologies related to Physician Services managed infrastructure

  • Partner with and act as the clinical liaison to the Information Technology Group concerning all things HIT especially focusing on prioritization, execution of projects and resource alignment

  • Collaborate with the Physician Services Quality team to assure alignment and facilitation of efficient patient care

  • Coordinate closely with the Payer Initiatives team to ensure Physician Services provides the right HIT for today's clinical care needs while ever seeking innovative solutions to enhance care and meet future needs within this care space.

  • Provide guidance and assistance to the Physician Services lines of business to include (but not limited to) Urgent Care, IRL, Graduate Medical Education while providing HCA Corporate guidance in all things concerning HIT, quality and risk in the ambulatory space.

  • Serves as spokesperson for HCA Healthcare Clinical Services Group Physician Services CMO at designated meetings and represents views and strategy of CSG Physician Services in all settings, communicating vision for outstanding clinical care.

  • Demonstrates and articulates a thorough understanding of the social, political, and economic influences affecting healthcare programs and services, and develops and drives strategies based on these influences.

  • Supports the mission, vision, and values of CSG and demonstrates a passion for quality and excellent customer service at all times

What qualifications you will need:

  • MD/DO required

  • Masters level education preferred with preference for a focus in healthcare and/or information technology. Informatics Boards Certification preferred or equivalent years of Informatics training, experience and knowledge, in medical group, ambulatory or hospital management required.

  • Minimum of five years' experience as Chief Medical Officer, Medical Director, Chief Health Information Officer, Chief Medical Information Officer or other similar position within progressive, complex healthcare system or ambulatory setting preferred; as well, formal management training and experience in Quality and Resource Management in health care desired

  • Minimum of 10 years clinical experience with direct patient care

  • Minimum 5 years executive leadership in HIT within a large health care system preferred

  • Minimum 5 years management experience with a focus in leading clinical and non-clinical teams focusing on projects which involve budgetary, clinical and government regulation constraints

  • Exemplary medical practice history as attested by peers, with a minimum of ten years clinical practice required.

  • Leadership Acumen. The ability to inspire individuals, teams and the organization

  • Demonstrated compelling communication and Relationship Management. The ability to communicate clearly and concisely with internal and external customers, establishes and maintains relationships, and facilitates constructive interactions with individuals and groups

  • Must possess active license or recently retired license as an MD/DO
