Job Overview

The Physician Referral Liaison effectively plans, analyzes, and implements outreach efforts within the market area. Develops and maintains relationships within the physician community to enhance lines of communication and build the referral base for Shriners Children's. Provides leadership with referral assessments to support strategic initiatives and identify opportunities, market pediatric service lines, and grow patient referrals. The Liaison will continuously exemplify the mission, vision, values and customer service philosophy of Shriners Children's in job performance and in service to other persons throughout the organization.

This is a field-based position covering Salt Lake City, its surrounding areas throughout the region. This field-based position requires an estimate of 75% travel, of that an estimated 10% overnight travel is required.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitates referral source development, maintenance and expansion through relationship building strategies, marketing and education.

  • Identifies and provides promotion and education to physicians, physician office staff, clinics, and other healthcare providers. Activities include presentations, public speaking, and other related actions.

  • Actively participates in regional and state professional organizations, attends, displays, and coordinates exhibits at associated events to generate leads.

  • Maintains complete and comprehensive CRM record on existing and potential referring provider activity to increase effectiveness of communication and to serve as a basis for strategy development and new business opportunities.

  • Establishes and meets outreach activity production goals, as set forth by Market Director, and documents trends, successes, and problems to assess and analyze yield, driving process improvement.

  • Suggests performance improvement and marketing strategies based on physician feedback, identifies opportunities to build volume, and provides follow-up to referring physicians in conjunction with the Market Director.

  • Meets utilization goals for Shriners Children's Salt Lake City location and throughout the region.

  • Participates and confers with facility leadership and various departments (Intake, Medical Staff, Marketing & Communications, etc.) on process improvement in support of increased physician satisfaction concerning the referral process from first contact through patient discharge.

  • Collaborates with other physician referral liaisons across the system to align on a standard process for referral management, eliminate duplicative work, and share best practices.

  • Communicates appropriately with the persons served regardless of their gender, age, ethnicity, race, creed, nationality, or religious beliefs.

Qualifications

Qualifications, Skills & Abilities:

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, healthcare or related field.

  • Valid Driver's License, clean driving record, reliable vehicle, and ability to travel required.

  • 3+ years' successful experience in pharmaceutical/healthcare sales, marketing or physician liaison experience with a proven track record of goal attainment in target markets with providers - or - 1 year of sales or marketing combined with 5 years of clinical background required.

  • General medical knowledge especially related to orthopedic services or treatment offerings preferred.

  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills, ability to work independently, in a team environment, demonstrated time management, organization, problem solving and decision-making skills

  • Strong relationship-building skills, persistence, flexibility, plus ability to efficiently and effectively manage multiple tasks and projects

  • Results-Oriented, mission-driven, and sales minded.

  • Able to analyze reports and data to prioritize and maximize return on investments.

  • Working knowledge of computer applications, proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, additionally experience with Salesforce or any CRM/PRM preferred.
