Works under the clinical supervision of the practice physician(s) and office manager and is responsible for assisting the physicians in the practice. Assists in examination and treatment of patients, interviews patients, measures vital signs (i.e.: pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height), and records information on patients' charts. Also draws and collects blood samples from patients and prepares specimens for laboratory analysis.
High School Diploma, Certificate of Attendance, Certificateof Completion, GED or equivalent training or experience required. Must have at least one of the above required licenses/certifications (MA, CNA,LPN, EMT). Medical Assistants with aCertificate or Diploma of Completion of a Medical Assistant training programhired after 7/1/16 or foreign Medical Doctor with a foreign medical doctordiploma hired after 5/1/17 will have up to 6 months from start of employmentwith BHSF to obtain Medical Assistant Certification.
Effective 11/3/17, a Foreign Medical Doctorwith a Foreign Medical Doctor Diploma will no longer be qualified to be hiredin the Medical Assistant role. BLSrequired for all. For Primary Care Practices, EKG and Phlebotomy Certificationsare also required for employees with the CNA license only.
CNA, LPN, EMTlicense must be from Florida. Must beprofessional, organized, and a detail-oriented team player with effectiveinterpersonal communication skills and excellent customer service skills. Possesses compassionate demeanor and highethical standards.
HIPAA/OSHA compliancerequired. Communicates effectively withpatients, physicians, co-workers and practice manager. Bilingual preferred.
