• Levine Children's Hospital (LCH) is located in Charlotte, NC and is a state-of-the-art, 247 bed facility.

• It is the largest and most comprehensive children's hospital between Washington, DC and Atlanta, GA.

• In 2024, the Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit at LCH will expand to a 20-bed dedicated unit and LCH also has an 85-bed NICU. LCH is a part of the Carolinas Medical Center campus in Charlotte and is under the Advocate Healthcare System which is a leading system in the United States.

• In 2020 the HealthCare system acquired the Wake Forest University Hospital System including the Wake Forest School of Medicine. Faculty members at LCH enjoy academic appointments with Wake Forest University.

• Additionally, in 2025 a separate Charlotte campus for the Wake Forest School of Medicine will open on the Carolinas Medical Center campus.

Job Description

The Congenital Heart Center at Levine Children's Hospital (LCH) seeks to add a Pediatric Interventional Cardiologist to join the existing faculty. Responsibilities for this position will include diagnostic and interventional catheterization in children as well as adults with congenital heart disease.

Levine Children's has 2 state-of-the art catheterization labs that are located immediately outside of the Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit and are dedicated congenital catheterization and electrophysiology labs. In 2023, the team at LCH completed over 500 catheterizations between 2 interventionalists. Roughly 15% of these catheterizations were in adults with congenital heart disease.

One interventionalist has left the program and we are seeking to replace that team member. Candidates need to have completed an ACGME accredited fellowship in pediatric cardiology and be BC/BE by the American Board of Pediatrics. A fourth year of additional training in interventional cardiac catheterization is required. Also, a minimum of 2 years of independent experience is preferred.

The Congenital Heart Center at Levine Children's Hospital was ranked 8th by U.S. News and World Report in 2023.

Our comprehensive services include advanced cardiac imaging, electrophysiology services, dedicated cardiovascular intensive care staff, and regional referral programs in heart failure /transplantation, adult congenital heart disease, and fetal echocardiography. The program also has an excellent 3D printing service with a full-time 3D printing engineer to help facilitate the production of models. The catheterization program has also been very academically productive in the past few years and presented 7 catheterization-related abstracts at the 2023 World Congress of Pediatric Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery.

Furthermore, the program currently participates in several multicenter collaborative trails and several additional industry sponsored trials. Teaching opportunities also exist as LCH pediatric residents and Wake Forest medical students rotate through pediatric cardiology. Teaching and academic opportunities will increase in the future with the addition of a Charlotte campus for the Wake Forest School of Medicine.
