Examine patients, obtain medical histories and order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests. Counsel patients about illness, injuries, health conditions, and preventive healthcare. Acts independently, consistently exercises discretion and judgment.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides medical care and conducts patient interviews, examinations, diagnosis, and rendering of appropriate medical or surgical treatment.

  • Educates patients on wellness, prevention, and early detection through interpersonal communication and/or the provision of informational materials to patients and family members.

  • Assesses need for, and as may be clinically indicated, refers patients to additional health care providers for need additional specialty care.

  • Assesses urgency of patient medical care needs in determining necessary follow-up schedule and/or referral/consultation appointments.

  • Exercises sound medical judgment in all issues pertinent to medical diagnosis and treatment on each patient's behalf.

Required:

  • Current Michigan license to practice medicine

  • Board certification or board eligible

VIEW JOBS 5/22/2020 12:00:00 AM 2020-08-20T00:00 * Provides emergent, inpatient and/or outpatient medical care with the supervision but not necessarily the presence of a qualified physician member of the medical staff * Takes patient history, performs physical examination, orders and interprets tests, makes diagnoses and institutes appropriate treatment programs * Performs nursing functions independently Works in collaboration with staff physicians, house officers, nurses and other members of the medical care team to ensure that patient outcomes are achieved in a safe and efficient manner * Specific procedures are individually credentialed as indicated by training and experience * Works in one of the following departments: Cardiovascular Medicine, Emergency Medicine, ICU, Interventional Radiology, Neurology, Neurosurgery, Oncology, Orthopedics, Otolaryngology, Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine, Surgery, Urology * Must be a Masters prepared Registered Nurse who has graduated and taken the board certification within their chosen specialty -OR- Must be a Masters prepared Physician Assistant who has graduated from an accredited program and has taken the boards * Must have no encumbering circumstances, which would prevent credentialing by the Henry Ford Medical board * Requires licensure as a Certified Nurse Practitioner; licensure as a Registered Nurse or a Physician Assistant and be eligible or have obtained a DEA number for prescriptive authority in Michigan * BCLS Certification required * ACLS Certification required in some departments as appropriate * Requires certification in one of the following: ANA certification exam in a nursing specialty field; National Certification Corporation (NCC); National Certification Board of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners and Associates; and/or Certification from Michigan State Board of Nursing as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) * An Acute Care NP degree or PA degree is preferred * A minimum of 1 year working as an APP in Critical Care/ICU is preferred * Rapid Response/Code Blue team experience is preferred * TNCC is preferred * PALS will be required once hired Henry Ford Hospital Clinton MI
