Position Summary: Seattle Indian Health Board (SIHB) physicians are responsible for the delivery of quality, culturally sensitive primary medical care to the SIHB's patient population. Physicians work under the supervision of the Medical Director. LOCUMS providers are on staff to cover temporary shortages in the clinic.

Organizational Structure/Reporting Relationships: This position reports directly to the Lead Physician and has no direct reports.

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide general medical care (including diagnosis, treatment, management and referral) to SIHB patients with acute, chronic and maintenance health care needs.

  • Consult and coordinate care with other practitioners, nursing, pharmacy, laboratory, and outside referral sites. Refer patients for specialty care, as indicated.

  • Provide clinic preceptorship of mid-level practitioners and patient care instruction to nurses, pharmacists and other SIHB clinical staff.

  • Participate in quality assurance, program development, community health education/ screening and related activities.

  • Document all patient care information/treatment on problem-oriented format in patient's medical records. Complete and submit encounter forms and related materials according to established procedure.

  • Comply with SIHB policies and procedures, and the AAAHC Standards of Care

  • Actively participate in internal quality improvement teams and work with members proactively to drive quality improvement initiatives in accordance with the mission and strategic goals of the organization, federal and state laws and regulations, and accreditation standards, when assigned.

  • Other job-related duties as assigned

Qualifications

Background Qualifications

Required:

  • Board Certification in specialty area and Washington State M.D., D.O. or ARNP License.

Preferred:

  • Community healthcare experience.

  • Familiarity with health and social issues facing American Indians/Alaska Natives and a desire to promote the delivery of appropriate health services to this population.

Work Environment: Clinic operates on a 4-10 schedule Monday

  • Friday, with occasional Saturday clinics. Schedule to be determined based on clinic needs.
