Worcester Recovery Center and Hospital is seeking a Physician III (Part Time- 20 Hours) who has the desire to provide services in a state-of-the-art DMH inpatient facility that provides a high-quality, safe and respectful treatment setting while promoting active rehabilitation, recovery and return to community living as soon as possible.
The Physician III is responsible for assisting the Physician Specialist in leading, directing, and/or providing all complements of the medical support program at Worcester Recovery Center and Hospital. The Physician III aids the Physician Specialist in setting and maintaining standards required for certification and accreditation; supervising and overseeing the multidisciplinary staff; delivering primary medical care and treatment to all patients; reviewing and authorizing the utilization of all medical support services; and administering the medical clinic in conformance with the policies and procedures of the Hospital.
The Physician III participates in direct patient care, and supervises and consults with other licensed staff providing direct patient care. It is expected that the Physician III will be engaged in patient care related activities as well as assisting in the management of the medical clinic operation.
DETAILED STATEMENT OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist Physician Specialist in Providing leadership and supervision for all medical staff and medical clinic staff.
Participate in the medical staff schedules to provide for continuous medical coverage during the required time.
Assist Physician Specialist in overseeing medical care, diagnosis, management, and referral to appropriate facilities/providers for patients at Worcester Recovery Center and Hospital.
Consult with psychiatrists and other clinicians to provide comprehensive and continuous care of patients.
Assist Physician Specialist in overseeing and providing emergency services to employees at Worcester Recovery Center and Hospital.
Participate in the procurement and oversight of relevant medical services' related contracts.
Help improve clinical care through the review and revision of policies, development of practice guidelines, and disease management protocols.
Help develop and monitor Quality Assurance indicators that meet the Joint Commission, CMS, and DMH requirements and participate in the hospital wide performance improvement process.
Provide direct, ongoing medical care to patients on designated units. Provide medical coverage as needed for continuity of care at the Hospital. Provide urgent/emergency medical care to all staff and patients as needed.
Participate in Worcester Recovery Center and Hospital leadership through committee work and PSOEC membership.
Perform admission history and physical examinations.
Address and order labs, EKGs and X-rays as needed.
Assess and consult on difficult cases.
Perform routine daily evaluations of patients as needed.
Perform minor surgical procedures as needed.
Respond to emergency medical calls.
Provide doctor to doctor contacts with outside hospitals as needed.
Conduct all necessary medical procedures pursuant to WRCH protocols.
Participate in and develop materials for staff development activities, such as ongoing educational activities for staff and patients.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED AT HIRE (List knowledge, skills, abilities)
1.Doctor of Medicine degree (MD or DO).
2.Current and valid Massachusetts license to practice medicine
3.Thorough knowledge of clinical medicine based on experience and training.
4.Ability to identify and respond to emergency situations throughout the campus.
5.Ability to refer patients/staff to appropriate facilities as needed.
6.Experience working effectively with patients with chronic illness.

Located on over 100 acres in Worcester, Massachusetts, Worcester Recovery Center and Hospital (WRCH) is part of an integrated network of effective, efficient and culturally competent mental health services. It provides intermediate and long-term inpatient care for individuals with serious and persistent mental illness who live in Massachusetts, as well as individuals requiring specialized court ordered evaluations.
WRCH provides inpatient services to 260 inpatient adults; 30 inpatient adolescents and 30 residential adolescents, in either an Intensive Residential Treatment Program (IRTP) or a Behavioral Intensive Residential Treatment Program (BIRT).

MINIMUM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must have at least (A) two years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, professional experience as a registered physician.
