Summary

VAAAHS offers a full range of patient care services, as well as education and research. Comprehensive health care is provided through primary, secondary, and long-term care in the areas of primary care, specialty medicine, surgery, psychiatry, physical medicine and rehabilitation, neurology, oncology, dentistry, geriatrics, and extended care.
Responsibilities

The Sleep Center Physician is responsible for participating in the day-to-day clinical and administrative activities and prescribes medications/supplies in accordance with VA policy and VA formulary and State regulations.

The successful candidate will focus on provision of high quality clinical care and education within a well developed academic sleep medicine program that includes interdisciplinary sleep clinics as well as sleep laboratory performing both Level I and Level III sleep studies.

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM

Qualifications

Basic Requirements:

United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed.
Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
Completion of residency training, or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.
Proficiency in spoken and written English.
Physical requirements outlined below. Preferred Experience: Fellowship trained board certified sleep physicians will be preferred.

Physical Requirements:
Applicants must meet physical standards for the position.

A physical examination prior to placement is required. Requires lifting 15-44 pounds; pushing (approx. 2 hours); reaching above shoulder; use of fingers and both hands; walking and standing from 3-5 hours and kneeling. Ability for rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously.

Must have depth perception and ability to distinguish basic colors and shades of colors. Hearing aid is permitted.

VIEW JOBS 11/10/2018 12:00:00 AM 2019-02-08T00:00 Clicking "Apply Now" opens the link in a new window.Job Summary The Pediatric Surgery Service at Michigan Medicine CS Mott Children's Hospital is seeking a dynamic, motivated, experienced and patient-focused Physician Assistant (PA) to join a team of 14 surgeons, 2 fellows, 3 surgical residents, 6 PAs, 2 NPs, 3 RNs, 2 dieticians and a pharmacist collaborating to deliver excellent Pediatric Surgery care. Responsibilities* The PAs on the Pediatric Surgery Service participate in the daily care of patients on the general care floor as well as in the neonatal and pediatric intensive care units under the supervision of the pediatric surgery attending surgeons and fellows. The inpatient PAs participate in daily work rounds led by the fellows, education rounds with the attending physician and places and follows up orders and care plans made in conjunction with the team. The PAs are also instrumental in obtaining consent and explaining surgical procedures and diagnoses to our patients and families. The PAs facilitate scheduling surgical procedures under the guidance of the attending surgeons. A PA in this position is also expected to complete appropriate documentation of admissions/discharges/daily notes, coordination of discharge planning needs and assisting with pre-operative consultations. The PA will perform appropriate bedside and operative procedures (i.e. circumcision, suction rectal biopsy, Broviac catheter repair/removal, gastrostomy tube change). The PA is the first contact for the general care inpatients admitted to our service and is responsible for their minute-to-minute care. There is an occasional need for the PA perform consultations for other inpatient services under the guidance of the attending physician. While this position will consist almost entirely of inpatient care there are expectations for some outpatient clinic participation when needed usually for help with procedures. The PA will participate in care conferences, CME education lectures, tumor board, and peer quality review with the attendings and other staff members to assure quality patient care. Duties are not limited to the above description and will be modified according to patient care needs. The PA will always work under the direction of an attending surgeon. Required Qualifications* * Current license to practice as a Physician Assistant in the State of Michigan. * Satisfactory completion of a Physician Assistant program accredited by Accreditation Review Commission Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) or one of its predecessor agencies, CAHEA or CAAHEP. * Certification by the National Commission on Certification for Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
