At WakeMed, the Senior Physician Coding Specialist is responsible for providing training as needed on all billing, coding and payer guidelines for the team. The Senior Physician Coding Specialist is required to possess in depth knowledge of billing and coding guidelines as outlined by Medicare, Medicaid and all other payers.
Maintain a high level understanding of coding for all specialties (Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Neonatology, Ob-Gyn, Surgery, Orthopaedic's, and Otolaryngology) within our multi-specialty practice. The Senior Physician Coding Specialist serves as the initial contact for the assigned specialty team and is able to interact with all levels of the organization to ensure cost-effective, accurate and timely coding of professional services. The Senior Physician Coding Specialist understands the needs of the organization and supports the mission, values and management of WakeMed.
High level of experience in physician billing/coding with knowledge of governmental and private insurers documentation guidelines required.
High School Diploma required. CPC/RHIT/RHIA/CCS-P certifications required. Associates Degree in Business -or- related field preferred.
